Entry #406, February 3, 2011
Today we continue with the Earth signs – Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn in Stagetecture’s new feature – ‘Astrology in your Home’. Yesterday I introduced Dolores Morford, from away4u, and she explained how astrology is at the root of everything that influences are daily lives, including our home decor decisions and our environment.

Astrological signs show how differently we each go about satisfying our basic human needs. Right up there with food, shelter, and love are the psychological needs for control and success. Astrological signs are in full force when organizing work space which is the means to be in control of the environment which supports career success.
My features on Stagetecture will help you enjoy your home and make your environment perfect for you!
Come back tomorrow for the Air Signs: Gemini, Libra and Aquarius
Earth signs: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn
Practical, security oriented – don’t like the frivolous and unsubstantial

Taurus: Collecting and acquisition people
Desk:
Likely traditional, to be easily accessed from entrance. Everything that has gravity has to be solid and well-made—skimpy/flimsy brings on emotional tremors.
Storage and Decor:
Keep in mind that this is the collector personified; shelves needed for display. Thick cushy upholstery is a must for the tactile-comfort-master — as are appeals for all senses (music, lighting, etc.).
Organizers important: keep the small things out of the way of the wheeler-dealer papers and items. For instant access to everyone of influence, enable ritualizing the process of collecting names by positioning an expensive, handsomely bound contacts-organizer desk-front-and-center.
At least one beautiful plant in view from the desk chair, better even if some dirt shows — Taurus loves land—“the “good, green earth” still makes a great investment.
Virgo: Particular, helpful, discriminating people
Desk:
Keep good taste in mind but function rules. Colors of the Zen-variety might do the trick. A place for everything is the motto—but putting it there has 2 routes: either by the do-it-myself-perfectly-type Virgo or by the maid hired by the Virgo anomaly– the clean-up-challenged Virgo. Either way, devote a desk drawer or two for cleaning cloths with polish or cleaner already in them.
Storage and Decor:
Find either matching waste receptacles or ones that completely disappear: compulsive disposal of offending items is primary. Sorting and placing makes a Virgo playground—provide clever organizers.
The Microsoft Excel program always open and list-making materials are Virgo-décor accessories. Style/taste spectrum moves from stark minimalistic to color-coordinated containers everywhere.
Capricorn: High-reaching, high-achieving, dutiful people
Organization & Decor:
The Earth-sign-ness part comes to mind first—security the goal, professionalism the mode, work and more work the schedule. Absolutely use all 3 of these in decor choices. Translated into home décor-speak, find some green (color of money and success), find some plants, find furniture that lasts forever, and daytimer organizers with 2-4 pages per day.
They are busy, likely with more than 1 job and want others to know this, so find handsome wall and open-desk schedulers. Temperature regulation an issue… these people do not like to be cold. The “expert professional” is the look you are going for. Whatever communicates “I’m in charge” is a worthwhile purchase… and, believe me, you will be asked to justify “worthwhile-ness” for these cautious spenders.
Make room for evidence of accomplishments, as in display of trophies and plaques. Aim for the best of everything, on sale, of course.
