Entry #454, March 21, 2011
As I start off the spring, I am truly amazed at how far I have come in the last 6 months of following my passion and dreams. I can’t say I have done it by myself, or it has all been easy. While it always seems like a cliche – “Follow your dreams”, I am living proof that whatever you put your passions behind, you can make a reality.
About a month ago, Micle Mihai-Christian, founder of Freshome said to me, “I think you should write a post for the ProBlogger“. I said to him “No way, I would never be accepted, blah blah blah”. He finally said, “Don’t quit before you try”.
A month later, I’m proud to say from Micle’s great inspiration, my husband -Garrick Gibson’s gorgeous graphics from Journey to Genius, and my writing about what has become my first love, writing about your home, I received my debut on the ProBlogger!
To see my post: “Choosing a Blogging Niche you Can expand on for a Lifetime” – read it here on the Problogger.
So today’s post is dedicated to:
Finding your passion.
Here are my 4 suggestions to move towards your goals and keep a burning desire for yourself to dream and do better, daily.
1.) Surround yourself with those who achieve:
Notice I didn’t say surround yourself with those who “dare” to achieve. I mean seriously, look around at the people who are in your daily life. If you are trying to achieve greatness, find those people in your life, and feed off them to get ideas, inspire you, and for you to inspire them.
2.) Take a chance, daily:
If there is one thing I have learned from my solopreneurship launch back in September 2010, is to take chances, every day! Not just, a little out of your comfort level. Like step into a zone that you aren’t comfortable in, but are not terrified stiff in. This area could soon be where you thrive and achieve what matters to you most.
3.) Believe in yourself, even when others don’t:
Whatever you do in life, do it because in your core of inner values, and beliefs says – this is who you are and represent. Even if those around you frown upon it, make it yours, and own it. For if you only do what you are told and what the masses tell you, you will let down yourself. After all, you have to live with yourself every minute of everyday, I suggest that you make yourself happy.
4.) Learn to accept criticism and benefit from it:
One of the hardest lessons to learn is from those who criticize your work, your lifestyle, your beliefs, etc.. Learn to take it, and use it for bettering yourself. Don’t let the sting of humility get to you, use that make yourself stronger, wiser, and in time it will make you more human.
Thank you Problogger for the wonderful opportunity!
