After a very tiresome day, who doesn’t want to relax and get rejuvenated in the comfort of their home? Going to the spa is commonly the first thing in mind when we want to pamper ourselves. However, spending part of our income on a regular basis could be less than relaxing! So how about turn your bathroom into a retreat?

So why not create your own place of calm and serenity? Here are some tips to consider for turning your bathroom into a relaxing spa:
Avoid cluttered space
Do away with mess and cluttered bathroom. You don’t want to see a pile of towels or anything hanging on your wall or lying around your sink. Keep a simple storage solution.
Choose the right paint colors
Select paint colors that are calming to the senses like neutral, monochromatic or earth tone paint colors. These paint colors give a tranquil feel and inspire a sense of relaxation because they do not excite the emotions. These allow your mind and body to rest. You may have beige, pastel green and blue.
Mood Lighting
Install dimmer switches to create your mood lighting. Skillful application of light can produce certain moods. Soft lighting provides a more relaxing atmosphere. Consider an eco-friendly compact fluorescent lamp with dimmer for better quality lighting or use flameless candles as another low energy option for lighting. You may opt for a bathtub that has lighting built in it and also comes with music and light shows for an extra bit of luxury!

Add greenery
Vases with fresh flowers and hanging plants can add a little nature to your bathroom. This brings fresh air to your space and promotes a soothing relief. Hang plants and display planters with beautiful greenery to bring the body back to nature. A spa is inviting when all of the benefits of nature are infused throughout the bathroom.
Scents to enhance your mood
A clean smell is very comforting. Some of the popular scents to enhance a calm mood are bergamot, sage, frankincense, lavender and vanilla. Place candles and potpourri with soft fragrances to give you a soothing and calming effect. You can also choose fragrant reeds with natural oils or use sprays to enhance the air. Picking the right scents can enhance your relaxation or revive you with energy. Visit your local home and bath shop for the latest trends in home spa scents and varieties.
To complete your spa experience, choose a theme that best suits you. You don’t have to spend much on getting yourself pampered. Add a touch of creativity and you can create your personal retreat in the comfort of your home.
