Tin lanterns can also be a great alternative to have a traditional lighting fixture using tin cans.
Here’s how to create your unique tin can and convert it into a stylish lantern:
Materials Needed
Scissors
Tape
Pen or pencil
Paint, foil or plastic wrap
Few nails of different sizes
Hammer
Tin can

- Put random holes in your tin can. If you want to have patterned holes, you can do so. Use the nail and hammer to do this. You jot down points in the tin can where you want the holes to be placed. Holes will provide the illumination effects of your lantern.
- In order to achieve good lighting, place a lighted candle inside the tin can and ensure that it stands firm at the center. You need not worry how long the light will stay inside it.
- To enhance the looks of your tin can, wrap it with a colorful foil or gift wrap. Tape it properly. You can also use spray paint to color you tin lantern.
- Your garden area and patio are the suitable places to hang these lanterns. It will look like a firefly at a distance. Tin can lanterns are very impressive during night time. You may also opt to hang it on tree branches. You will surely have a lively and gorgeous tree all night long. Also use these playful lanterns on outside summer buffet tables to safely hold candles around food.
