We all know that when you speak of cholesterol, not all forms are bad. In fact, there is good cholesterol that we need in our body. Reducing, if not eliminating, the level of bad cholesterol in our body is very important to have a healthy heart. And this is not impossible to achieve.
One of the best ways to maintain a normal level of cholesterol in our body is through healthy eating. This means you are aware of the cholesterol content of the food you are eating. Through this, you will be able to prevent food intake that is known to be high in cholesterol content. Thanks Men’s Health for these great ideas!
But there is cholesterol-fighting food that might surprise you, here are some of them:
Pizza
The garlic and anchovies you have on your pizza have excellent components to lower your cholesterol level. Anchovies, for instance, is packed with iron, zinc, copper, iodine and selenium together with the fish oil that are effective agents to lower cholesterol. Also, garlic has antioxidant components that fight bad cholesterol. This is done by preventing free radicals from oxidizing Low-density lipoprotein (LDL).
Burgers
Well, of course, this depends on the fillings. Basically, farmed beef that is fed with grasses have twice the vitamin E that is good for your body. It has a balanced ratio in terms of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids that is proven effective to lower bad cholesterol level in the body. But the best thing to do first if to check the label of your burger of choice.
Scramble eggs
This may surprise a lot of people. Eggs, as cholesterol-fighting food? Well, yes! And it is backed up by a study from the Journal of Nutrition. The study concluded that eating eggs in your breakfast increases the level of good cholesterol rather than the bad. So, break out some shells without the guilt!
