When embarking upon the venture of installing a conservatory for your home, there are many essential factors you will want to consider, as well as the shape, size and interior. All quality and high specification conservatories will generally be tailored to your personal design and taste, but it’s also important to think about certain practical measures.
We’ve made a list of some of the most important things you need in your conservatory, so that you can get the maximum use out of it, whilst feeling secure and protected.

Warm your Home: Features to Include in your New Conservatory
Solar roof and glass
Solar roofing systems are designed to reduce the sun’s high heat and glare during those hot (and rare!) summer days. The fact that conservatories get very hot in the summer is usually a factor that puts potential buyers off from investing in one, so this is a great feature to eliminate this age-old problem. They’re also regarded to protect your family further from the sun’s UV rays, which will put your mind at rest when your little ones are enjoying the sun room.
Home owners also worry that the conservatory will go unused during the colder, winter months. Solar glass is useful for keeping heat in, too, which will mean that you will be able to enjoy the extra space all year round.

Thickened glass
Stronger glass is a useful and necessary safety feature, when ensuring that your conservatory does not leave you and your home vulnerable to thieves. Additionally, they work alongside the solar roof to improve thermal efficiency, keeping you cosy in the colder nights. A thicker glass will also help to reduce outside noise which can be a concern for certain conservatory positions and locations, meaning your extra room will be as peaceful and serene as you had hoped.
Locking system
Like toughened glass as mentioned above, a secure and reliable locking system will be a safety feature that will keep your family safe and protected. Many good conservatory manufacturers offer multi-point locking systems which work to prevent the door from being removed from the frame. As a result, it is virtually impossible for anyone to gain access to your conservatory – and home – without a key.

Blinds and fans
Blinds are a fantastic interior feature that will have a positive impact regarding the temperature of your conservatory, as well as being aesthetically pleasing. If you do take all of the above factors into account but happen to live in a particularly sunny area, they can be a great investment for optimum comfort whilst in your conservatory. Many companies offer a range of conservatory blinds to suit your budget and the overall style of your space.
Fans are also a great feature to consider including in your new conservatory. They are useful for ventilating fresh air across the space, as well as having a visual, attractive aspect. Many suppliers offer a remote controlled system too, which is great for your convenience if you don’t feel like getting up whilst you’re relaxing!
