Essential Super Foods You Can Grow In Your Spring Garden

Your garden is not just a place for growing beautiful  flowers. It can also cater plants for food like fruits and vegetables. This is why a garden is very essential for homes. A limited backyard or outdoor space is not even a good reason to get away with a garden. You can have a productive garden even in a small space.

If you want to harvest something to indulge your taste buds, several plants can cater your desire. These delectable main ingredients for your menu will certainly make your everyday meal extraordinary. Here are some essential super foods you can grow in your garden:

Sweet potatoes

There’s no doubt that potatoes should be on top of the list. You can’t count on your fingers that list of menus that you can make out of potatoes. This includes the all time favorite – French fries. The sweet potatoes are packed with potassium, fiber and a lot of essential vitamins. In planting, make sure that the soil temperature is above 60 ºF. Sweet potatoes prefer a high temperature for better growth.

Edamame

The edamame is a great source of protein, omega-3 and antioxidants. These are nutrients needed by your body to function well every day. When growing this plant, wait for the warm season to come in. Summer season is the best time to spread the seeds. Some of the popular recipes with edamame are crispy edamame, ginger soy-glazed edamame and steamed edamame.

Blueberries

Other than being an excellent source of antioxidants, blueberries are rich in Vitamin C and K. This is can be eaten raw, part of a dish, cooked or baked. You can plant this in an average temperature. The blueberries can also add beauty to your garden as this plant grows in compact and very attractive.

Get your garden tools and equipment ready and prepare yourself to plant. Your labor will harvest delectable super foods to fill your dining table with nutritious servings.
