Olioboard Inspiration: Bringing Fresh Spring into your Kitchen Design – Lisa Cross
With better weather right around the corner I was asked to share my kitchen color design ideas for spring. I don’t know about you but spring can’t come fast enough for me. To be able to open my windows again and let in fresh air sounds very appealing.
Of course, since the kitchen is the heart of the home the family will still spend plenty of time there. As it serves a critical need functionality is important, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be pretty.
Spring colors in your kitchen
Spring colors are generally thought of as pastels. As far as I am concerned any colors that you would find in your flower garden are spring colors. Painting your cabinets can be a great way to bring in color. If you don’t want to paint your entire cabinet, paint just the back of the interior. Then to show off that color replace some of the upper cabinet doors with glass inserts or remove them altogether. You can then display colorful dishware to add another element of that spring time freshness.
Fresh florals to awaken your kitchen
What would spring be without flowers? Hang a cheery floral valance or shade at the window. The floor is another great place to show your spring spirit with a floral area rug. Pull out your most colorful kitchen accessories and let them spread sunshine throughout the room.
Another great way to bring the outdoors in is to grow small pots of herbs on your window sill. These herbs will also serve to add flavor to the healthy dishes that the availability of local fresh produce will soon afford.
In the end make your kitchen a joyful place by bringing in elements that will make you happy.
