I Loved the Fall Wreaths at Lowe’s for my Front Door

As you already know wreaths are a huge part of my life from my How To Make a Burlap Wreath sister site. On that site, I highlight gorgeous wreath tutorials for every season, occasion and also list by materials. The fall wreaths at Lowe’s are perfect for any decorative style and I chose their Holiday Living 22-in Orange Indoor Gourd Artificial Thanksgiving Wreath. The mixture of gourds, pumpkins, feathers, and leaves is the perfect grapevine wreath to celebrate the season. What I love even better? That I can keep this up throughout October and November!

Fall Wreaths Pair Beautifully with Lowe’s Pumpkins, Topiary and Planted Flowers

Color and textures are the simplest way to bring warmth to your front porch. After I put my own porch furniture back, I used Lowe’s potted yellow mums flowers and their craft pumpkins in varying sizes around the porch.

I think fall wreaths always look better when they have another element to pull them together. The Holiday Living Pumpkin Topiary with White LED Lights also adds vertical height next to the front door. I love how the grapevine pumpkin topiary also lights up at night.

They can use the items in the bag to make their scarecrow. The winning team can be awarded a prize.

Glitter Pumpkins

Spread newspapers on the ground and handover each child a mini pumpkin. Provide them with craft glue, paintbrushes, and glitters in different colors. Let them use the paintbrushes to coat their pumpkins with glue. Finally, ask them to sprinkle the glitter over their pumpkins. After it dries out, they can take their decorative piece back home as a Halloween party memento.

How to Make Cute Halloween Cupcakes Recipe

Halloween cupcakes are fun for a Halloween party or just for eating during the season. Welcome, Halloween! Perhaps kids look forward to Halloween the most since it feeds their imagination with some ghostly fuel. Rituals and festivities take out the fear quotient and bring to life small gestures of togetherness, games, tricks and treats! With the imagination being fed by fantasies alone, ‘stomach’ needs a little more than that. A Halloween Dessert to be more specific if its kids in question! So let me bring to you a simple Halloween Ghost Cupcakes Recipe that will let your kids enjoy Halloween tales along with treating their tummies!

How to Make Cute Halloween Cupcakes Recipe

Halloween Cupcakes Ingredients:

150 g plain flour

75 g self-raising flour

150 g softened butter

250 g castor sugar

2 eggs, lightly beaten

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp baking soda

50 to 60 g cocoa powder (I like to add about 75g)

50 g melted chocolate

200 ml buttermilk

Halloween Cupcakes Icing:

120 g golden syrup

250 g sugar

4 egg whites

2 tbsp chocolate sugar strands

Halloween Cupcakes Directions:

Preheat oven to 180ºC.
In a baking tray arrange 12 muffin cases.

For The Cupcakes

In a glass bowl, beat butter and sugar well until it becomes light and fluffy.
Start adding eggs, one at a time so that they mix very well with the butter sugar mix.
Add melted chocolate and mix well again.
Add vanilla extract to the above mix.
Spoon by spoon add flour, then add cocoa and in the end add baking soda. Ensure all of it mixes very well.
Gently blend in buttermilk to the mixture
Put a big spoonful of batter into each cupcake liner and bake for 20 minutes.
Place them on a wire rack to cool.

For The Icing

Put sugar, syrup and 4tbsp water into a saucepan and heat gently till sugar dissolves.
Bring the sugar syrup to boil and keep it boiling for about 5 minutes till the temperature reaches 115ºC. Remove the saucepan from heat.
Whilst the sugar syrup is boiling as in step 2, in a large glass bowl whisk in 4 egg whites till they form soft peaks.
Keeping your mixer on a slow speed add the sugar syrup gently very carefully.
Increase the mixer speed once the sugar syrup has gone in the egg whites and beat for about 10 minutes. The icing should have completely cooled off by now and it should get cooler, else the icing might turn too soft and will not hold.

Halloween Decorations – Cupcake Frosting Piping Ideas:

Put the icing in a piping bag with a large plain nozzle.
Pipe icing first in a circle and then sweep the piping bag from the centre of the cupcake making a little hill in the centre and finish off with a peak.
Add chocolate chips or chocolate strands as eyes.

Royal icing is easy to use and adds a festive glam to plain boring cookies. Organize your thoughts and ideas on a piece of paper before decorating the cookies with royal icing. The kids will enjoy eating it as much as you will enjoy decorating these.

Creative Halloween Treats: Sugar Cookies with Royal Icing

Halloween Treats Ingredients:

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
12 tablespoons butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1 egg

Halloween Cookies Directions:

Place a fine mesh sieve or a sifter over a medium mixing bowl and add the flour and salt. Sift the dry ingredients into the bowl and set aside.
In a mixing bowl, combine the butter and sugar; using a handheld mixer on medium-high speed cream the butter and sugar together until the mixture is light in color and has a fluffy texture. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula and then add the vanilla extract, lemon zest, and egg. Beat until blended, 1 or 2 minutes longer. On low speed, gradually add the sifted flour and salt, mixing until just blended.
Remove the dough from the bowl and cover with waxed or parchment paper. Place the dough on baking sheets and refrigerate until firm, at least 2 hours or as long as 24 hours.
When you are ready to roll and bake the cookies, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the cookie dough on the work surface and remove the top sheet of paper. Lightly dust the surface of the dough with flour. Roll the dough out starting from the center to an even thickness of 1/8-inch. Using decorative cookie cutters cut the dough directly on the parchment paper. Use a spatula to transfer the dough to the lined baking sheet. Place the cookies at least 1/2-inch apart.
Gather the dough scraps and reroll them to make additional cookies. Only reroll the dough once.
Bake the cookies 1 sheet at a time for 10 to 12 minutes or until cookies are golden around the edges and firm to the touch. Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool.
The cookies can be stored in re-sealable plastic containers or cookie tins for 1 week. To frost, the cookies prepare a recipe of royal icing as follows and decorate as desired.

Halloween Sugar Cookies Royal Icing:

2 egg whites
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 tablespoon milk
1 pound confectioners’ sugar

Place all of the ingredients in the bowl of an electric mixer and beat slowly until well blended. Then beat at medium-high speed until the icing forms stiff peaks, 6 minutes. If icing is not stiff enough add more sugar if it is too stiff add more milk. Use immediately or place in a plastic container with a lid until ready to use. Allow icing to dry for at least 24 hours before packaging.

Yield: About 2 1/2 cups

Remember to keep your designs simple enough to work with an icing bag and tip. The consistency of the royal icing should be such that it spreads evenly on the cookie with a spoon. If you are new with royal icing, it is a good idea to prepare some icing in a slightly thicker consistency and create an outline on the cookie before filling it with runny royal icing.

Who doesn’t love Halloween cookies during the holiday season? This year, avoid buying store-bought cookies to decorate but make your own. Halloween pumpkin cookies are some of the best Halloween desserts because they combine two things: Fall and Halloween. They are made with flavorful ingredients and can be scary or bewitching. They give you an opportunity to show off your creativity and endear you to the kids in your neighborhood.

How Make the Perfect Halloween Cookies Recipe

Yield Makes approximately 6½ dozen cookies.

Halloween Cookies Ingredients:

½ cup of molasses

½ tsp of baking powder

¾ tsp of salt

¾ pound of unsalted butter (room temperature)

1 tsp of pure vanilla extract

1 ½ tsp of ground ginger

1 ¾ cups of sugar

2 large eggs

2 tsp of ground cinnamon

2 tbsp of baking soda

4 ¾ cups of all-purpose flour

2 types of ready-made icing

Halloween Cookies Ingredients:

Mix the ginger, cinnamon, flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda in a bowl. Sieve the mixture and set it aside.
Put the butter and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer with a paddle attachment. Beat the mixture until it is fluffy (for about 2 minutes). Scrape the sides of the bowl with a spatula then add the eggs and vanilla separately. Add one egg at a time and mix on medium speed until combined.
Add molasses to the mixture and mix on medium speed. When the mixture is combined, add the dry ingredients and mix. Mix on low speed, medium then high until all the ingredients are combined. This takes about 30 seconds.
Put the dough on a clean work surface and roll it into four thick logs (1½ inch thick). Wrap them in plastic wrap or parchment and refrigerate them until they become firm (1-2 hours). If you prefer you can roll dough out on the counter and use cookie cutters to make your favorite shapes.
Heat your oven to 350 degrees. Unwrap the logs and slice them into thick circles. Place the circles on baking sheets lined with parchment. Bake them until they crack on the surface (12-15 minutes). Remove them from the oven and leave them to cool on a cooling rack.
When cool, decorate them with the ready-made icing.

These delectable cookies are perfect for those with a sweet tooth. You can even decorate them to look like jack-o-lanterns. Place a #2 tip inside a pastry bag and pipe around the edges to outline the faces on the cookies. Afterwards, fill in the areas with icing. The kids knocking on your door will love their treats and your family will love how they taste. The molasses filling makes a lovely addition to your Halloween treats.
