Check out these tips to know how to make healthier choices on the Thanksgiving Day while still being festive.
Choose Healthier Recipes
As you cannot do without joining feasts, find out lighter and healthier alternatives to traditional Thanksgiving recipes. Choose new recipes to change the tastes or make healthier versions of the usual items by adding more greens. In addition, try to engage your entire family in the food making and the post-feast cleaning processes. It will be a fun way to get your family on board with a healthy lifestyle.

Get Exercise over the Holiday
Walking is a form of exercise in which every member of your family can take part. Take a walk with your family before having the turkey feast. It will also give you a great opportunity to spend more times with your loved ones and reflect more on the things you are grateful for.
Many cities organize some form of a ‘5K’ or a ‘Turkey Trot’ on that big day. Take part in such a race with your entire family. It will be a fun way to cut some extra calories before the grand feast.

Involve Family Members in Exercise
If you and your family members feel more energetic, take a hike instead of walking before the feast. After getting the turkey in the oven, take out everyone for tracking on a nice trail. It will be a great way to get some exercise in and enjoy the natural scenarios of different terrains on various trails. Pick up an easier trail if you have tiny members in the family. However, remember that hiking is a toilsome task. So, if you have older or very young members in the family, choose other options.
Get Fresh Air and Enjoy Nature
Do you have a park at your locality? If yes, you have endless options to burn extra calories on Thanksgiving Day. Go to the park with your friends and family and play games like Frisbee, soccer, basketball, or something else. Another work to do together with your family members is to volunteer at the local soup kitchen. It will also be a good way to teach the young family members to be kind and helpful toward others.

It does not matter how you are going to celebrate the big day, just make sure to get some physical activities like getting out for a walk or playing with the pets. In addition, move your focus from fattening feasts to bonding with your family, the thing that really matters!
