Homemade Craft Decor For Fall

Brown crafts paper can be reminiscent of Fall once you craft it into some gorgeous handmade flowers. These flowers can then be arranged in a multitude of different ways to form gorgeous wall decor arrangements. You can set these against the forefront of family photos, dry flower arrangements, autumn veggies or anything you think is apt for autumn.

Acorns so remind me of Fall and do form an integral part of Fall Decorations. There are so many ways in which acorns could form a part of wall decor. Fall Decor for walls cannot get simpler than this. All you need to do is cut out F, A, L & L out of craft paper and get it framed or tied in a string. Craft papers in the colors of autumn can really bring out this DIY project.

Nature’s stained glass

The easiest yet attractive way to make use of fall leaves is to create this Nature’s Stained Glass project. You can do this by placing a candle in a tubular, transparent glass and stick on the leaves outside the glass panel. This should create a nice glow like a stained glass. Luckily, with color choices that come naturally with falling mercury and changing leaves, choosing inspiration for your fall party is as simple as looking out of the window. Apple themed party

An apple themed party during autumn months can be exciting. The abundance of this tasty fruit in fall makes menu planning and decoration a breeze. Place loads of apples around the party area. For centerpieces, put few apples in a bowl along with some colorful autumn leaves and cinnamon sticks. For kids, cut the fruit in half and carve them into various shapes such as, stars or hearts. Bobbing for apples is another fun and exciting, timeless fall party game, both for kids and adults. Serve apple pie or tarts for dessert and other dishes that can be worked around with apples.

Harvest party

Host a bash that embraces the spirit of the fall harvest.  Make lots of dishes using produce of the season. Pumpkin pie and Turkey are perfect food choices for a harvest themed party. For decorations, stick to autumn color palette such as deep red, brown, orange and yellow. Additionally, incorporate farming elements such as wheat and corn centerpieces.

Pumpkin themed party

Pumpkins add style, creativity, and fun to any fall party. While, its seeds and pulp are always good for eating, you can use them to decorate your upcoming seasonal bash. You can use small pumpkins alone for dinner table centerpieces or group them with gourds or other small squashes. Moreover, you can carve them out to make unique decorations. For instance, in a hollow pumpkin, fit in a plant liner inside and plant small flowers like pansies. You can also host a pumpkin-carving contest for kids and adults. Make sure to bake the pumpkin seeds for crunchy, evening party treat.

‘Festive Fall Outdoor Entertaining Ideas ’ –  Adele Baumann Healey

Entertaining in the fall can be an exciting and exhilarating experience which your guests, no matter what age, can enjoy.  There are a few things to remember to make the get together a success. The fall weather can be challenging in respect to the greater degree of temperature changes between the sunny, warm afternoons and the chilly evenings.  Because of this, always have throws, blankets and extra jackets or sweaters available for your guests.

Fall outdoor entertaining ideas

Since the dark hours of night arrive sooner, also be sure to have plenty of lanterns, candles, hanging lights and fresh light bulbs available so there are no painful trips or groping in the dark. Hanging lights from trees or overhangs can create a magical experience for young and old alike.   Not only are these ideas a safety measure, but we all know that filtered and/or candle light makes us all look good! Also, borrow, beg or steal (well, don’t really steal – but renting is a good idea) small fire pits, chimineas or portable outdoor heaters to keep family and friends toasty warm as the night hours progress.  And after using that wheel barrow to haul those items to their location, fill those wheel barrows with potted chrysanthemums.

You can also spread the potted plants out along your patio or place them in a colorful, show stopping combination.  What’s great about using mums as decoration is, by the fall, they are usually on sale and after the party you can plant them in your garden to enjoy the next year!

Landscaping ideas for fall entertaining

Don’t forget your yard.  If you want an unforgettable experience, and have the time, bundle up dried corn stalks and possibly make a scarecrow with your kids (this will help them feel they contributed to creating a party spirit), and create a complete fall ambience.  And speaking of contribution, ask your guests to create or share their fall wreaths so you can hang them in the party area and allow others to admire their handy work and good taste.  Write messages on pumpkins and gourds.  Pile them in a basket or wooden box to place on a table as a center piece.  Not only is this an attractive centerpiece, but it can also inspire giggles or sentimentality depending on what messages you write. Along with the beer, wine, and soda pop, consider making a warm mulled wine for the adults and a warmed apple cider for the children.  Not only are these options tasty, but they offer something warm for cold fingers to wrap around. And last, but not least, be sure to have your firewood ready for those fire pits and chimineas.  Nothing worse than watching that last log burn down to ash when there’s still a good hour left to the party.

‘A Welcoming Autumnal Entryway ’ –  Shelley Harcar

Autumn is a season which signals glorious change, shorter days and chilly nights. Mother Nature’s extravagant adornments showcased against the brilliant sunlight and framed by a deep blue sky are some of my favorite things about autumn.

Autumn is an ideal time to incorporate some of Mother Nature’s glorious changes into your home décor. Since you never get a second chance to make a first impression, the entryway of your home is a great place to start your autumn decorating.

Refreshing your entryway need not be costly or difficult. Much of the beauty found in autumn décor comes from natural or nature inspired pieces.

Autumnal themed ideas

Pumpkins, gourds, nuts, and berries blend seamlessly with vivid leaves and flowers, creating a large impact that is still budget- friendly.

The wood tones already present in the entryway, are a wonderful background for an autumn extravaganza. The hall tree, bench, stairway, and French doors all take on fresh life with the addition of some key pieces.

For this entryway I added a bit of whimsy including the scarecrow family, squirrel, and autumn themed pillows on the bench. Two large pots of colorful flowers placed in baskets create a dramatic topiary for the corner. Vibrant garlands of leaves and flowers, as well as a brilliantly colored floral wreath continue the autumn theme in a natural way.

Decorating with natural autumn elements

The natural beauty of the tree root table is enhanced by a simple basket filled with gourds. Colorful mums highlighting the rich plump pumpkins which also double as planters.

The existing mirror gets update with the application of an autumnal themed decal. Smaller touches such as gourds, pumpkins, and other coordinating pieces dotted throughout the entryway give a finished, yet still casual look.

In addition to beauty and affordability, the items I chose also possess longevity.

I begin my own autumn decorating immediately after Labor Day, and I have found the autumn décor I place in September combines effortlessly with the Halloween and Thanksgiving items which will be placed and then removed accordingly.

A multitude of autumn themed pieces are readily available in specialty shops, craft stores and large retailers, to help make your entry way a brilliant testimony to the beauty of the season of change and to give your guests the warmest of welcomes.

‘Cozy Autumn Fireplace Mantle Ideas ’ –  Lisa Ketz

I was excited to be asked to present some fall mantle décor ideas to the many Stagetecture readers out there. I had a fireplace in my last home and really miss it especially during the Holidays. The fireplace is a major focal point in any home so decorating it is a must.

Traditional Fireplace Decorating Ideas

When one thinks about fall mantles most would agree that we think of the traditional fireplace and the warm fall colors of the changing leaves. The stone fireplace I chose to decorate for you couldn’t be more traditional. Here I have decorated the mantle with orange and white pumpkins, an orange candle and a basket of baby gourds spilled over to each side of a large mirror. The mantle is draped in a garland of maple leaves, berries and acorns.

If your fireplace has a raised hearth, don’t forget to decorate it too. Here I have simply flanked the firebox with rust colored mums. Of course, while the fire is blazing you may need to move these out. If you have built-ins or windows with a ledge beside your fireplace, feel free to extend your décor beyond the fireplace. I think the addition of wreaths on the windows and jack o’ lanterns sitting on a bed of maple leaves below adds just the right touch here.

Contemporary Fireplace Decorating Ideas

Now what if you have a more modern fireplace without a mantle? Does that mean you can’t decorate your fireplace for the holidays? As I have shown here that is not the case at all. Maybe you even want to decorate with less traditional colors. Go for it. Here I have hung a purple wreath and flanked it with white ceramic candle sconces. Again, modern fireplaces don’t generally have a raised hearth but the area in front is still game. Here I placed tall vertical flower arrangements on either side of the firebox and added some less traditional white pumpkins to tie it all together. That is enough here as simple and minimal fits the modern aesthetic best.

So whatever your style, color preferences, or fireplace type there is a place for fall décor in your home.
