Holiday Decor With Cinnamon Candle Centerpiece

A centerpiece that looks beautiful and smells better! Nothing like it. A simple DIY project that requires you to wrap cinnamon sticks with jute twines around thick candles can result in a beautiful table centerpiece that gives out a mild cinnamon fragrance when the candles burn. You can also twine in some dried orange peel for that extra punch of fragrance. Cinnamon and oranges-sounds fun to me!

Candles With Glass Jars

Mason jars have something very classy about them and when used in combination with fresh red fruit and green foliage, this centerpiece can look very appealing. All one needs to do is fill the mason jar with water and drop in some cherries, green leaves and floating candles. Artificial fruit and foliage can easily be used and perfumed candles add to the magic.

Candles In A Basket

Baskets again form very interesting centerpieces. What I would love to do here though, is gathering a few old rustic pots (small ones) or for that matter old tea cups or glasses and fill them up with Christmasy foliage. Next, I would just place a simple white candle in the center of each pot and place them in a basket. White candles standing in with the reds and greens of Christmas will create such enchantment you couldn’t imagine!

Plain red candles, standing at various heights, arranged in no particular order and placed against some casually placed pine cones can create very appealing visual stimulation. DIY Holiday Craft: Dip-Dyed Candles

Supplies

• Candles in different sizes
• Colored beeswax beads
• Taper candle
• Wooden spoon
• Crayons
• Slow cooker or double boiler
• Vegetable peeler or knife
• Baking sheet or ceramic plate

Process

1. Put the wax beads in a double boiler. If you don’t have a boiler, use a slow cooker with a nonstick insert. Melt the wax and continue adding chips to get a higher wax line.
2. Use the vegetable peeler to shave the crayons. Add the bits to the wax and stir to blend.
3. Let the bubbles settle then dip a candle into the wax to test the color. For a darker color, add more shavings.
4. Remove the wax from the heat.
5. Dip the base of one pillar candle to your preferred height. Hold the candle in the melted wax for 5-10 seconds. Remove it and place it on a ceramic plate or baking sheet to dry. Repeat this process for the other candles. Heat the wax again to maintain consistency if you are making multiple candles.
6. Leave the leftover wax to solidify. It will pop out easily.

You can also create dip-dyed ombre candles with this holiday DIY craft. Once the wax melts, dip the candle quickly and remove it. Continue this process and dip a smaller portion of the base each time and for a longer period. After the candles dry, arrange them together to create a centerpiece. You’ll love this project because it is inexpensive and does not consume a lot of time. You can buy the supplies at any local store. You can also make candles in different colors .

With all these benefits that candles provide, it won’t be surprising if you will be interested in doing it yourself. Hand dipped wax candles aren’t hard to make. You can do it at home with very less materials and tools needed. Simply follow these steps on how to make your own wax dipped candles:

Materials Needed

• Melted Bleached or Unbleached Beeswax
• Nails and hammer
• Piece of wood
• Glass of Water
• Candle Wick
• Heat-proof container

Procedure

1. Melt the beeswax using a double broiler or any heating equipment until thoroughly melted.
2. Build the dipping tool by placing the nails, about 2 inches apart, into the piece of wood. Just estimate the distance if you don’t have any measuring device.
3. Drape over the candle wick into the dipping tool. It’s up to you on how long you want your candles to come up. However, make sure that you have an allowance of 2 – 3 inches. This is because the entire wick will not be plunged into the wax.
4. Dip the candle wick into the wax and remove it after a few seconds. Dip the wick into the water for quick cooling. Do this step alternately and you will notice that it will slowly form into the candle you used to see. The process should take you several dips and plunges to be able to form the candle. On average, it’s about 10 – 15 dips.
5. If you are contented with the shape and its thickness, remove your candles into the dipping tool and cut their wicks individually.

That’s it! You now have your homemade wax dipped candles in less than an hour. You can actually add colors by mixing the beeswax with a colorful mixture of your choice. Have fun making your candle project!

Think back to the last time you spent the night at someone else’s home. Maybe the fixtures looked like something out of a 1970s Sears catalog, but the space still seemed immaculately clean and inviting. You don’t consider yourself an amateur plumber or electrician, so swapping out the faucets and light fixtures is beyond your skillset. Don’t be discouraged, though, because there is one way to update your bathroom’s hardware that requires only an hour of your time and a screwdriver: changing out any drawer pulls or knobs in the room. Installing a modern set of brushed-nickel, antique pewter or oil-rubbed bronze knobs or drawer pulls is an extremely fast and moderately priced way to transform your vanity or linen closet.

Shell Wind Chimes

The sound of wind chimes creates welcoming sound for our guests. It is easy to make wind chimes out of seashells. All you need are shell shards and bead threads.  Drill small holes on opposite sides of each shell. In groups of 3, knot the thread with shells. Spaced shells evenly. To secure the knot, add a small bead on both ends. Braid each of the threads with shells into a rope or hoop. Make as many groups of shells you want. Hang your finished seashell wind chimes and give your home seaside flair.

Shell Candles

Shell candles can add a lovely touch to your room or any home centerpiece.  To create your own pretty shell candles, prepare the shells and wash them thoroughly to remove dirt. Let them dry for about 20 to 30 minutes. Melt a paraffin wax into the shells according to its label instructions. Stir consistently and let it cool for 15 minutes. Place the wicks into your shells preferably in the deepest part of the shell for an utmost burning time. Pour the wax onto the shell. Once it has solidified, trim the wicks and clean off any wax on the side and back of your shell.

A seashell night light does not only help you avoid bumps in the middle of the night but also adds a feel of island magic to your room. Bring the memories of your beach vacation by turning your plain nightlight lamp into an adorable seashell nightlight. Look for flat shells and soak them in a mixture of bleach and water. This will remove flakes on the shells. Rinse shells with water and let it dry. Remove the cover from the night-light clip and replace it with your shells using epoxy or glue.
