For such a small pond, one or two small fishes and a few plants will be ideal choices.

Plastic Liner Pond

If you want to see larger fish and more plants in your garden pond, think of plastic liner garden pond. Any size or shape of pond is possible with these neat designed plastic liners because they are very flexible. In fact, any geometric shape is possible to make with plastic liners. You can make the pond by digging a hole on the ground and placing a liner in. Stones, gravels, and underwater pump will also be needed. Modern Pond

Such a pond can be built above-ground or in-ground. Above-ground ones need a retaining wall to hold the water. Pond walls are generally made of poured concrete in order to keep intact the simple and clean lines of contemporary design. Keeping multiple levels is common for modern ponds where a terraced effect is created by raising a smaller body of water above the main pond. In that case, water can smoothly overflow into the lower pond. Floating stepping stones and dark water are two common features of modern ponds. Set up these stones on the water surface and make the water look dark by making the pond’s inside finishing with a dark material.

Formal Pond

Formal ponds can be built at the ground level or can be raised with a retaining wall but their edges are always clearly defined because symmetrical outline or shape is the fundamental feature of these ponds. You cannot build such a pond at anywhere because it has to be the focal point of your garden. So, juncture of paths, the end point of a trail, or the adjacent space to an architectural feature will be the ideal place to construct this pond. You can use statues or fountains in your pond for added interest.
