How are you planning to celebrate New Year’s? In a big way or in a small way? If you want to pull out all the stops, make this New Year’s craft. It stands out for its simplicity and will make a cheerful addition to your New Year’s party. Make this New Year’s the one your family and friends will remember for years to come. Here’s how to make this fun craft.

New Years Craft: Festive Ball Topiary

This craft will brighten up your home

Image via: BHG

[ad#co-1]

Supplies

Scissors

Clear tape

Flat decorative marbles

4-inch-diameter foam ball

A medium-width dowel, 16 inches long

Christmas ornaments (in different colors and sizes)

A glue gun

Double-faced satin ribbon

Prewired filler or rhinestone florist’s picks

Vase or container

Modelling clay

Plastic wrap (optional)

Process

Spray-paint the foam ball and leave it to dry. Affix the dowel to the foam ball. (You can sharpen one end of the dowel to make it easier to insert.

Remove the caps from your Christmas ornaments.

Apply hot glue to the top part of each ornament then press it into the foam ball. Mix different colors and sizes for a unique look.

Fill the tiny gaps between the ornaments with the rhinestone picks or prewired filler.

Tie the ribbon around the dowel starting from the bottom and ending just beneath the decorated foam ball. Make a knot and leave two tails.

Fill your vase with modelling clay. If you intend to reuse the clay, cover the top part with the plastic wrap to ensure it doesn’t dry out.

Put the other end of the dowel inside the clay and place the marbles on top of the clay.

The Christmas ornaments add sparkle

Image via: Simply Designing

This sparkly New Year’s craft is so gorgeous you’ll want to show it off all year. The best thing about it is that you can make it using your Christmas ornaments. If you have kids, you can make it together as you wait for the midnight hour. Kids love to usher in the New Year but most of them don’t have the energy to stay up late so this will keep them busy. You can make several topiaries and place them around the house to create a celebratory mood.

Do you always admire your friend’s tea towels every time you stop by her house? Why not make your own? Fancy tea towels aren’t hard to make, all you need are a few supplies. Use white cotton towels as they are perfect blank canvases. They are beautifully white, inexpensive, and large. After you make your tea towels, share the tips with your friends so they can make theirs too. Your towels will look cute and bring a dash of summer into your kitchen. Follow these steps to make your holiday project.

Handmade tea towels

Things You’ll Need

White cotton towels (You can also use other colors but avoid very bold colors which overwhelm the patterns).

Fabric Markers

Pen and Paper

Iron

Procedure

Place the towels on a flat surface like a table. If you have a small table, work on one towel at a time.

Print the stencils you want or draw them if you’re artistic. Cut them out of the paper.

Place the shapes on the towels and trace them. Steady your hand to avoid making a mess.

Remove the stencils and color in.

Secure the paint by ironing the towels

You can use any stencil

Image via: Etsy

If you are looking for a holiday project, try this one. The towels will protect your hands and add a dash of color and personality to your kitchen. What’s more, you can also hang them in the bathroom and they’ll look just as good. They are easy to make so you will be able to admire your work in no time. You don’t even have to buy new cotton towels; you can use your stained ones. You can make many tea towels and give some as gifts. Naturally, your family and friends will be impressed.

Fall is the season of beautiful colored falling leaves that can be gathered on a nice walk through the park. It is a wonderful activity to do with the kids and finding nicely preserved and good to use in some Fall DIY Craft is a great and fun challenge. Gathering leaves can also be an opportunity to learn about recognizing tree species by their leaves and talking about the differences between them. But to use them as decoration that should last through the season, it is best to apply a technique to preserve the leaves before using them. Especially if you intend to use leaves to hang them from a fishing line to make sweet window decorations, here is a great way to prepare them.

Fall DIY Craft: How to Make a Fall Leaves Decor

Hanging waxed leaves for window decorations

Image via: Martha Stewart

[ad#co-1]

Supplies

Well preserved, brightly colored fall leaves

Bleached beeswax

Double boiler

Fishing line, ribbon or yarn

Clothespins or wax paper

Scented oil (optional)

Glitter (optional)

Waxed leaves can be used to make a beautiful mobile

Image via: Buggy and Buddy

Directions

Use the double boiler to melt the beeswax very slowly. Add a one or two drops of scented oil if desired. Be careful to not let the wax come to a boil, since it can lead to danger. Always take all necessary precautions and proceed with great care when melting wax to avoid any accidents and don’t leave it unattended while melting it.

Make sure your leaves are completely dry. Take a leaf and hold it by its stem. Dip it quickly into the liquid wax and shake slightly to drip off any excess wax.

If you want to use glitter, dip the waxed leaf into the glitter before the wax dries, so the glitter can stick to the surface.

Use a clothespin to hang the leaf to dry or place them on wax paper. You can dip the leaf again after the first coat of wax has dried if you want, depending on what look you want.

Use the leaves as they are or hang the leaves up using the fishing line, yarn or ribbon.

These waxed leaves can also be used as wind catchers

Image via: Popsugar

These leaves are great for decorating by hanging them from a branch, an embroidery hoop or just from a window to catch the light are all great choices. Furthermore, you can use them as they are to fill vases or bowls or just place them on a surface, but you can use them in other craft projects as well. Think about using them to make a wreath or a garland!

This beautiful Fall DIY Craft with waxed leaves is ideal to make this time of the year and can get the kids excited about nature as well!
