A vase of happy fall seasonal flowers such as sunflowers or colorful fall foliage can instantly enliven any room. It will help to create a beautiful and elegant atmosphere and bring in lots of energy. Colors like yellows, reds, oranges, and purples are perfect for the autumn season Just make sure to keep the blooms fresh by changing the water every few days and removing the leaves below the water level.

Decorate with wallpaper in the bathroom

The bathroom is the best place to experiment when it comes to using wallpaper. As there aren’t many furniture pieces and colors in this area, busy wallpapers really seem to work. However, try to choose fall themed prints and colors such as leaves, harvest and more. Also, opt for quality wallpapers to ensure easy removal after the season.

Fall decorating tips: update with candles and scents  

While candles look great any time of the year, they are just perfect decorative pieces for colder months as they suggest light and warmth both the things that nature does not offer during this season. Team it up with colorful scented potpourri, pine cones, and seed pods to create a vibrant focal point. Pick scents like pumpkin, cinnamon, or apple to provide a seasonal touch. However, make sure to stick with one or maximum two aromas at a time to avoid mixing of fragrances.

Use literary accents for Fall decorating

Decorating for fall cannot get easier than this. Simply cut out F, A,L, and L out of craft paper and get it framed or tied in a string. Pick autumn inspired colors for craft papers to really get the feel of the season.

Have you ever wondered how your office desk can start off being the most organized location and 6 years later you only have enough space for your computer to fit? Well sadly that has been my home office desk story for the last few years of Starting Stagetecture. When I first started I had just a roll around printer desk with my “Carrie Bradshaw – Sex in the City” iconic black Apple laptop that was as slow as molasses! You couldn’t tell me anything, because I was excited to be starting my own business and nothing could stop me.

Breathing Life Back into My Home Office

When organizing your office, especially when you live at home, you’ll need to part with items that don’t really need to be kept anymore. For me – catalogs, home decor magazines from 2009, every craft that my daughter has made since she was 2…. you know STUFF!  After 4 hours of purging, sorting, dusting, and organizing I was able to shed the pounds from my overly bloated office and showcase my new Minted artwork in my office.

I especially love the colors of Sundrop that “…takes inspiration from the radial patterns of a puddle with drops of new water, this painting is lively and happy.” The colors compliment my sage green walls in my office beautifully and I chose the distressed charcoal stain frame from Minted to compliment my desktop.

How to Decorate your Haunted House for Halloween on a Budget

• Gather up your supplies: Old pieces of cardboard, colored paper, markers, and glue are some of the things you can use.
• Take cardboard and cut out bat shapes (use a stencil if you need to): After you cut them out, use markers or paint to add color. Black bats look great hanging with a bit of fishing wire or string.
• Make fake tombstones out of cardboard: Just cut out the shape, paint it gray, and write RIP or other sayings on them. They can then be placed in a window, or in a place where they won’t get wet.
• Use yarn or crepe paper to create giant spider webs for windows
• Use colored paper to cut out pumpkins, black cats, or other Halloween pictures: These can be placed in windows, or on walls.
• Recycle old costumes and clothes: Old masks can be used to make life-size monsters with just some old clothes and newspapers.

Haunted House Decorating Tips:

• Keep scraps of fabric and old clothes throughout the year. These will come in handy to make scarecrows or other life size beings.
• Alternatively, instead of the yarn spider webs, you can purchase bags of “fake webbing” for very little cost, these often include small plastic spiders and the occasional glow-in-the-dark ones as well.
• For a bonus, change out your front porch light with a black light. It gives an extra creepy glow.
• If you happen to be a gardener, save any dead flowers and plants. Putting out some dead flowers and plants can make your house look haunted (just get rid of all the dead plants after Halloween!)
• Stick bin-bags to front windows and stick CSI tape to the front of the house to make it seem deserted.

A wall covered with maps is something that cannot be ignored – it draws eyes to itself. Maps are graphic and can beautify a room just as any piece of art. Some homeowners place them in casual frames to play up their humble nature while others group them in large collections to create a “library” effect.

If you want to make a design statement with maps, look for oversized ones in bright colors. You can frame them or hang them as they are. Choose maps that match your home’s style as they will complete rooms beautifully. If your home has a vintage vibe, decorate it with old hanging maps as they have a bulky, textural charm.

While holiday string lights could possibly be one of the most traditional ways to light up your home, why not find new types of string lights? From snowflakes, woodland animals, or even chili peppers, you would be surprised what new lighting options are at your favorite store. Bring in color with red, blue, green, gold and even shimmery silver string lights hung from your stairway bannister can be gorgeous. 5 Easy Ways to Decorate Your Bookshelves for the Holidays

1.   Apothecary Jars

One of the oldest tricks in the interior design book is including apothecary jars in your home décor. Use different shapes and sizes to add a touch of elegance and interest to your bookshelves. Fill them with twinkling lights for a soft and romantic ambiance, or add sweets and treats for your guests to munch on during your holiday party. Decorate the exterior of the jars with twine, burlap or colorful ribbon for an extra festive touch.

2.   Garland & Wreaths

Adding a wreath or a garland swag is one of the most sought after pieces of holiday decor. Outfit your bookshelves with a healthy helping of fresh pine leaves, evergreen sprigs or slices of spruce. Sprinkle in touches of Christmas-themed decor like pomegranates, pinecones or lights to really emphasize the space. You can hang the garland on the outside in a sweeping motion, or let it lay naturally on the shelves for a more organic feel.

3.   Covered Books

Most bookshelves are used for, well, books. To add a little holiday cheer, wrap your books in decorative wrapping, plain brown paper or holiday ribbons for a subtle nod to the season. We recommend looking for patterns like plaid, tartan and polka dots and dark, bold colors like navy, coffee and burgundy. Add some spice with stamps, ribbons and tied-on twigs.

If your holiday style is more natural than ‘Noel,’ consider adding organic elements to your bookshelves. Fill your vases and decorative dishes with pinecones, nettles, twigs, fruit and leaves, finishing them off with a tautly tied ribbon.
