Most of us love to have furniture within our homes, offices, kid’s areas etc.  But have you ever received or purchased a dresser  that wasn’t exactly what you liked, such as a family heirloom?  You can either hide it, somehow get rid of it, or (personal favorite) remodel or revamp your dresser so that it fits the needs of you and your space?  If you opt for three then here are some steps to get you that dresser that you love having around in your home.

Supplies

1)      Dresser

2)      Sander

3)      Dust mask

4)      Screw Driver

5)      Paint

6)      Paint Brush

7)      Spray Paint

8)      Block of Styrofoam

9)      Primer

Instructions

1)      Take the dresser that you would like to transform and move it to an area that you don’t mind getting messy.  Then, you want to remove the drawers from the dresser.

2)       Next, put on the dust mask and take the sander and begin to sand the entire dresser getting all the way to the bare wood.  (This process shouldn’t take long.)

3)      Once the sanding is done, take the screw driver and unscrew the handles from the drawers.  And start painting the drawers that you previously removed, make sure to allow at least 2 hours between each coat.  You will probably use two coats of primer and three coats of the paint.  (This process will take some time) Also, paint the frame of the dresser.

4)      While the last coat of painting is drying, figure out what you would like to do for the handles.  If you want to keep the handles that were attached to the dresser and just wanted to change the color then get the Styrofoam block and press each handle onto different sides of the block.  Spray paint the handles and allow them to dry for 10 minutes then spray a second coat (two coats should be enough). If you would like to change out the handles completely and purchase more that is fine also just make sure that the handles that you purchase will fit the dresser (size wise).

5)      After everything that was painted has dried, re-screw the handles into the drawers and put the drawers back into the dresser.  There you have your new dresser! Try it out!
