Mason Jar Chandelier Materials:

Mason Jars with lids

Flat cord wire

Light bulb receptacle

#10 Washers

Small Hose Clamp

PVC cap

Hex Nuts

Steel Nipples

Electric Drill

Wire Staple

Base (wood, metal or anything that can hold the jars)

How to Make a Chandelier Directions:

1. Prepare all the materials.
2. Drill a hole in the center of each Mason jar lid. This hole should be fitting to the steel nipples.
3. Then, drill at least 4 to 5 small holes in your Mason jar lids. This will provide the necessary exhaust for the heat produced by the bulb.
4. Attach the steel nipples in each lid and secure it using the hex nuts with the washers.
5. Insert the flat cord wire in the steel nipple. At the end of the wire, screw the wire to the bulb receptacle. Connect the bulb into the receptacle and seal the lid. Do this step in all the mason jars.
6. Ensure that all electrical connections are done accurately. Take note that electrical safety should be your priority. Also, it is very important to make it neat and clean.
7. Fasten each wire connected with the mason jar to the base. Do this according to your desired style.
8. Connect all wires in parallel. Arranged the wires properly so that it will not look messy.
9. Securely fasten the mason jar chandelier on your ceiling.

To organize your closet, take everything out and dump it on your bed; go through each piece of clothing one item at a time and assess when you wore it last. Most charities will come to your door to pick up your castaways, so don’t think giving away your clothes is going to become an arduous chore you don’t have time for. Use a shoe rack so you can see all your footwear laid out instead of jumbled up. Make sure to buy a floor shoe rack, however, because the ones that hang over closet doors don’t provide proper support for men’s shoes. Squeeze as many shoes as possible onto your shoe rack by placing shoes in opposite facing directions.

Home Repairs: A spitting faucet

Hate having to deal with that spitting faucet and paying $100 or more to have someone check it out then repair it?  Then purchase two rags, an adjustable wrench or plier’s planters, masking tape, dish detergent and a sponge.  When dealing with a spitting faucet, you will learn that the aerator is dirty (the mesh piece located inside the tip if the faucet) and needs to be cleaned.  Place one rag over the drain to catch any falling parts.  Cover the jaws of the wrench or pliers with tape to avoid scratches.  Wrench the tip of the faucet, turning it counter clockwise with your fingers or if it’s on too tight one of the tools. The aerator may be made up of several components.  Set them down in the order you removed them. Wash each with warm water, dish detergent and a sponge; use a wire brush for caked-on grime.  Put the parts in the reverse order, screw the unit back on.

Home Repairs: Small cracks in drywall

Whether you slammed something in your wall or just have those annoying pesky cracks this is a do-it-yourself fix.  First, get your supplies: spackle, putty knife, fan or hair dryer, fine grit, sand-paper, interior latex prier, a small paint brush or roller and paint (preferably the paint that is on the rest f the wall).  What you are going to do is scoop the spackle onto the putty knife to cover the crack and make sure you spread completely over the crack and do not scrape it off.  Then take the fan or hair dryer and aim it towards the spot on low for 10-15 minute.  Once dried, lightly sand the surface with the sand paper until the patch is smooth and disguise your work with a thin coat of primer using a small brush or roller.  Turn the fan or hair dryer for three minutes to promote faster drying.  Apply two coats of match wall paint and use fan for 2-3 min.

Home Repairs: Securing sliding windows

This is a simple task once you have the supplies and directions you will be on your way.  Pick up a ruler or dowel, a pair of window controls, box nails, a hammer, a measuring tape, and a pencil.  First, push up the window as high as you desire to open it; use a ruler or a dowel to hold it in place.  Next, place a window control in the channel on one side then align the top edge of the control with the bottom of the sash and nail it into place.  (The wavy part of the control holds the window up and, when pushed in allows the window to slide over it and close). Be sure to measure the distance between the nails and the sill and mark the same distance for the other channel; nail the second control into place.  To lower the windows remove the ruler.

When you’re living in an apartment, you have to expect that you will have limitations in terms of a makeover plan. But this doesn’t mean you can’t have the best of what you plan for your apartment room. You just have to know the best idea to put them in place. Like when you want to install a TV on the wall, this is very possible without damaging the wall of the apartment. How? Just follow the steps below on how to build a TV wall for your apartment:

Tools and Materials

• Lumber
• Screws
• Paint
• Sandpaper
• TV mount
• Electric drill
• Hole saw bit
• Circular saw
• Clamp
• Protective goggles

Procedure

Step 1: Measure and cut your wood

The measurement depends on the size of your TV. Use the circular saw for a quick cut. But if you want it easier, there are stores that offer pre-cut wood according to your measurement.

Step 2: Screw them all together

What you need to do is to sandwich them all together where the drywall on top, followed by the plywood and then the 2 X 4 lumbers. Screw the four, longer 2 X 4 vertically. Ensure that you space them equally at 16 inches apart.

Step 3: Paint

Paint it with the right color that will blend perfectly into your wall. You may also have it in contrast with the color of the wall to provide accent. Make sure to spackle over the screws and the edges so it will look neat and elegant.

Step 4: Attach the TV mount

Attach the TV mount into the wall into the studs of your fake wall. This should hold the TV firm and steady. In this step, do not attach your TV yet.

Step 5: Drill

Using the hole saw, drill in places where you will insert the cables and boxes. Make room for audio-visual accessories that you may want to install in the future.

Step 6:  Install it into the wall

Now, look for a stud that you can drill a screw and attach into the real wall. A 4-inch screw should be enough to hold them thoroughly.

Step 7: Mount your TV

The last step is to mount your TV and attach the wirings. Make sure you have everything connected accordingly.

That’s it! Now, sit back, relax and enjoy your tv without worrying about damaging the walls when you move!

Prepare the room

Spray the Ceiling

You can do this by simply using a garden spray to wet the ceiling. The water will soften the texture and the adhesive bond. It doesn’t have to be very wet. A nice sprinkle will be enough to scrape the ceiling easily. Too much water will cause damage to the surface. Also, concentrate on a single area at a time. This will ensure that you don’t skip a spot ready for scraping.

Before you actually start scraping, you have to wait for at least 10-15 minutes. The main reason for this is for the water to soak in. This is a very important process that will make scraping easier and effective. A decent putty knife is very effective in scraping the corners of your ceiling. It can also be used for crown molding.

How to Repurpose a Ladder into a Shoe or Towel Rack

Now, how many of us have an abundant supply of shoes?  I hear the comments sometimes that women don’t need that many pairs of black shoes. Let’s set the record straight, yes we do.  However, these loved items that we call shoes can take up alot of space and sometimes cause a bit of a mess.  So here is a solution that will add an accent piece within your space and organize your shoes at the same time.  A shoe rack made from a ladder! Creating your own shoe rack is simple a simple process with promising results.  Take a look and try it out!

Supplies

1. Old Wooden Painter’s Ladder
2. 2-3 Brackets Wooden Dhelf Grinder with Sand Paper
3. Opaque Water based Nail Polish
4. Brush

Instructions

1. Take the ladder, with the grinder, remove the old paint from the scale (ladder).
2. After the old paint has been removed then paint the scale with a water-based matt glaze, choose any color that you would prefer.  Let the paint set and dry, you may have to do two coats but once the paint has fully dried set your new rack against any wall that you would like.
3. And viola you have your newly made shoe rack for show!

* Other Uses

You can also use the rack for hanging towels, with more tools and instructions you can even use it as a clothing rack!
