New Home Decor Shop: Stagetecture Launches Burlap and Succulents

I was inspired by my readers who are always searching for burlap wreaths, succulent garden care and dorm room decor to create a shop that reflected products I use daily.

Burlap and Succulent Home Decor Shop is born:

I decided to use Zazzle.com to create my shop. If you’re not familiar with Zazzle they are a print on demand or POD company that allows you to customize your own products or shop Zazzler’s shops for uniquely designed items. The wonderful part about Zazzle is you can choose from my designs or you can customize them to make them uniquely yours.

Since we are in August I decided to make this a seasonal launch. Meaning each month new products and new categories will be added to Burlap and Succulents shop. With it being back to school season I found it fitting to focus on dorm room decor and office/school supplies. Let’s face it, kids aren’t the only ones that get excited about school supplies right?

Dorm Bedding and Dorm Room Decor:

Dorm room decor has always been a passion of mine. When I went to college I decorated it like I was a true interior designer! Pretty duvet covers and throw blankets are always nice to cuddle up in, especially when you want to make your dorm room a haven for relaxation right?! Whether you have college students or you are looking to add more color into your apartment or home, take a look at the selection. Pretty coordinated collections also have shower curtains, accent pillows, and pillow cases for the perfect bed!

Back to school and office supplies are one of those categories that I love. When I was young just the idea of seeing pencils, binders and folders was exciting. Instead of just having colorful supplies I wanted to include floral wreaths, bold polka dots with custom monograms and more to get you excited about work and school again.

A mix-n-match style is always effective in adding vibrancy and inspiring creativity. Buy several trendy and stylish artworks to create a colorful environment and inject personality to your room. Create a gallery-style wall with artwork pieces and photographs.

A Happy Inspiration Board

An inspiration board is a great idea, as it will serve dual functions of decorating your room and inspiring you. Make a decorative memo board with your favorite things like personal pictures, inspiring quotes, favorite magazine cutout, and something others that will make you happy and motivate you to lead life in a positive way. Looking at your favorite things will help you when you are drowning in homework and will help you get through when you are homesick.

Posters & Murals for Fun

Using giant posters is a cheap and very easy way to decorate the walls of your dorm room. You can choose this option if your institution does not allow using painting or wallpapers. Invest in some great posters, because they will accompany you throughout your college life. Wall murals are another option in keeping the room cheerful and happy. Do you have liking for a particular sport? What is your favorite hobby? Are you crazy for a rock music or sports icon? A giant mural or small images arranged together in a mural-like style of your favorite person or sport will definitely add fun.

Spice up with Stylish Shelves

Students need shelves for keeping their books, keepsakes, or other stuffs. What if the shelves not only serve functionality but also can be used to decorate the room? Different types and styles of shelves are there that can effectively fulfill your aesthetic needs. Keep your space clutter-free and bring a chic style to your dorm room with tree-style, skateboard-style, or geometric style shelves.

As a new student, decorating a dorm room can be overwhelming to you. However, these ideas may help you making your room the best one on the hall. Most colleges have rules and regulations about what can be put on the walls and what not. So, do not forget reviewing the rules of your school before spending money on anything.

Typically college dorm rooms include only some necessary things and minimal accessories. It is normally a 15×15 room with one window and detached of personal touch. Dressing up a dorm room can be overwhelming, especially when you are left with little money after paying for books and school fees.You can try these means to do the job at less cost.

Dress up the Bedding

As the bed is the biggest thing in the room and the place where you will spend a lot of time, make it the focal point of the room. Look through thrift stores to mix and match items like comforter, matching sheets, accent pillows, and pillowcases for your dorm room bedding.

Use Affordable Curtains

As dorm rooms tend to be small, use curtains to make your room visually bigger. Buy some dropcloths and fabrics from hardware store and replace them with dorm room curtains. To create an illusion of space, hang them from the ceiling down to the floor. Avoid dark colors and busy patterns on the fabrics because they will make your room look even smaller.

Decorate the Walls

The walls of the dorm room are a great background to make a grand change of the entire décor. Fill up some of the wall space with a tangible semester planner and a year calendar with beautiful images. Use artworks made by friends, cheap postcards, posters, and personal pictures of your friends, family, or dog to fill up the rest. You can also frame the postcards and the posters in grids. Use removable hooks to hang them, as most dorms do not allow screws or nails in the walls.

Green Plants

Nothing may possibly brighten up a space more than something that grows. Choose some houseplants that will grow well inside the shade of the room. Even if you are not good in handling with greenery, a cactus garden on the windowsill will be almost impossible to kill. Moreover, cactus plants do not need much water or care.

Search through online classifieds

Craigslist is the perfect place to get accessories, small furniture pieces, and appliances at less cost. You can get crazy deals on some necessary things like a study desk, side chairs, and desk lamps if you are patient. You can also get small appliances like microwaves and min-fridges that usually pass inspection in the dorm.

Go for Less

A dorm room has very small space. So, try not to stuff it with a lot of things. Use less and simple possessions to make the space more livable. You can also use multi-functional furniture to save space. Buy a futon that can be used as a sofa during daytime and a full bed at night. Open shelving can be used for storing books and kitchen utensils. A loft bed will also save valuable floor space.
