Father’s Day Brunch: Stuffed French Toast

Ingredients

For the Sandwiches

1 cup of fresh strawberries (sliced)

Butter (for cooking)

Maple syrup (for serving)

½ tsp of granulated sugar

½ cup of milk

2 eggs

12 slices of white bread

8 ounces of cream cheese

Confectioners’ sugar (for serving)

Strawberry syrup (for serving)

For the Strawberry Syrup

Juice of 1 lemon

Zest of 1 lemon

3 cups of fresh strawberries (sliced)

1 cup of granulated sugar

Instructions

For the Strawberry Syrup

1. Heat a medium saucepan over medium heat and mix all the ingredients. Bring to a boil.
2. Reduce the heat and simmer until the syrup is thick and the strawberries are soft (for about 15-18 minutes).
3. Allow to cool to room temperature prior to serving.

For the Sandwiches

1. Mix the eggs, granulated sugar, and milk in a small bowl.
2. Spread the cream cheese on 6 slices of bread and put the strawberries on top.
3. Put the remaining slices on top and compress the edges to seal.
4. Heat a griddle over medium-low heat and melt the butter.
5. Dip each of the sandwiches in the egg mixture. Turn them to ensure each side is covered with the mixture.
6. Cook them until they turn golden brown, for approximately 2-3 minutes on each side.
7. Serve with the strawberry syrup, confectioners’ sugar, or maple syrup.

No doubt about it, your dad deserves special treatment on Father’s Day. The day only comes once in a year while dad has to fulfill his fatherly duties every single day of the year. Fathers Day Craft: Dad Rocks Paperweight

Supplies You Will Need

A bowl

A cookie sheet

½ cup of pea gravel

½ cup of flour

¼ cup of salt

¼ cup of water

Acrylic or clear coat sealer (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 250 degrees F.
2. In a big bowl, mix the salt, water, and flour. If you find that the dough is too sticky, add some flour gradually until it becomes thick and flexible. However, take care not to add too much flour because the dough will become too dry and your craft will crack.
3. Using your hands, shape the dough into a ball. Place it on the cookie sheet and press it until it becomes flat. It should be about ½ inch thick.
4. Arrange the pieces of pea gravel on the dough to spell out “DAD ROCKS”. Push them gently into the dough till they become fully embedded.
5. Bake the dough for 2 or 2.5 hours. Make sure it is completely dry before you remove it from the oven.
6. Turn off the oven and allow the dough to cool.
7. Paint your craft with the clear coat sealer or spray it with the acrylic sealer.
