What time is it? Game time!!! And that means tailgating time. That’s right, it’s time to gather together and show some pride for your favorite team. Football season is in the air for everyone to share. From the trash talk to the food to the flamboyant colors of the home teams, tailgating is a way of life. So for this football season make sure you go out with a bang and do your tailgating to the fullest power. And to help you out here are some tailgating tips for your own personal keep.

Don’t Forget these Fall Tailgating Tips

Tailgating ideas

Image via: Four Generations One Roof

[ad#co-3]

Get Up and Out Early

First come, first serve. Keep this in mind when you are planning on tailgating at any game. You want to be able to get the best parking space that is convenient and perfect for you and your party. Plus, this will give you more of an opportunity to set up your food stand, equipment and other game favors the way you prefer. Also, you might even be able to get a spot that would have easier access to the restrooms or entrance/exists.

Tailgating Party

Image via: I 4 Color Inc

Be Prepared for Tailgate

Anything can happen at a football game. So have the first aid kits, jumper cables, safety tools and coolers all fully packed and ready to go. This topic can go as far as when you are getting the food together for the tailgating party. Marinate your foods the night before, label your drinks so it will be simpler for your guests to get them, and place some extra utensils in the back. Also, if you plan on being the first to the game tie a banner or balloons to your car so your guests will better find you in the crowds.

Tailgating Buffet Style

Image via: Miss Fanantic

Give your Guests a Variety

Now we all know that one of the best parts of a tailgate is being able to gorge on all of the foods that are available, so here are some tailgating tips on that area. Set up a buffet like areas or bars and it would be best if you all had foods that you can hold in your hands, napkins, bags or cups. You can even, if you are planning on leaving early in the morning, cook breakfast at the tailgate. Have game day food like hot dogs but with a condiment bar for them or a bloody Mary bar or even fill an empty bag of Lays potato chip bag with nachos or chili. The ideas are endless.

Tailgating ideas for your crew!

Image via: My Recipes

Tailgating will always be a force that gathers everyone together from every walk of life to show team spirit, eat, drink, trash talk and be merry! So with all of the festivities that go on within the tailgate wouldn’t you want to make the most out of it? Get up early to get cleaned and out early, prepare your cases and coolers, and give your guests a variety of binge foods that they love. Push the limits on your tailgating game, also Stagetecture reader can you think of any tailgating tips that you like?

[ad#co-1]

Ingredients

1 package (8 ounces) frozen brown-and-serve pork sausage links, cut into 1/2-inch pieces

6 eggs, beaten

4 ready-to-serve pizza crusts, 6 inches in diameter

1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese (6 ounces)

Sausage and egg breakfast pizza recipe

Image via: Real Mom Kitchen

Directions

1. Heat oven to 400°F. Spray 10-inch nonstick skillet with cooking spray; heat over medium heat. Cook sausage in skillet about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until brown; drain. Remove sausage from skillet; set aside.

2. Pour eggs into skillet. As mixture begins to set at bottom and side, gently lift cooked portions with spatula so that thin, uncooked portion can flow to bottom. Do not stir. Cook 4 to 5 minutes or until eggs are thickened throughout but still moist.

3. Place pizza crusts on ungreased cookie sheets. Sprinkle with half of the cheese. Top each with eggs and sausage. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Vegetable cooking spray

1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds (optional)

Salsa

Garnish: lime wedges

Hand held size empanadas

Image via: Five and Spice

Directions

Heat almonds in a large nonstick skillet over medium-low heat, stirring often, 4 to 6 minutes or until toasted and fragrant.

Preheat oven to 375°. Cut pork into 1/2-inch cubes. Toss together pork and picadillo seasoning.

Sauté onion and pepper in hot oil in skillet over medium-high heat 5 minutes or until tender. Add pork mixture, and sauté 6 minutes or until browned. Stir in raisins and lime juice, and cook 30 seconds. Remove from heat. Stir in almonds, cilantro, sour cream, and pepper.

Unroll dough on a lightly floured surface. Gently stretch dough into a 14- x 12-inch rectangle. Spoon pork mixture onto dough, leaving a 1 1/2-inch border. Lightly brush edges of dough with egg, and roll up, starting at 1 long side and ending seam side down.

Carefully place dough, seam side down, on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Bring ends of roll together to form a ring, pinching edges together to seal. Lightly brush top and sides of dough with egg. Sprinkle with cumin seeds, if desired.

Bake at 375° for 18 to 22 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm with salsa. Garnish, if desired.

This should serve at least eight persons. You will be amazed to see how these pork empanadas become the party favorite.

Whether you are ready or not, Fall is coming around the corner in a few weeks. I’ve always loved Fall, it’s the perfect balance of temperatures, changing colors in foliage and the kids are back in school! Fall is especially exciting when football season is ramping up and so is preparing for tailgating on the weekends.

Fall is almost here.. embrace it!

One from the archives…

Original Entry #4, September 1, 2009

The kids are back to school, and your teen already doesn’t know where his Algebra class syllabus is. You just finished the last barbecue at your house for Labor Day weekend, and now you’re thinking of how to get ready for the fall. Whether you live in the North or the South, fall means..football season, packing lunches, and packing up summer clothes.

Back-to-School help for the kids and you!

Here are some helpful hints to keep your kids organized, and you sane:

Have kids unload backpack’s daily. Have them throw away trash, extra papers, candy wrappers. There has been many a time that an old Skittles bag, made a feast for ants in my son’s backpack!

Clean out the backpacks daily...

Have a 3-ring binder or folder for each of your kids school’s. From daycare to high school, the parents have plenty of papers to keep up with. Parent handbooks, PTA functions, teacher’s contact information and school calendars are right where you need them, quickly.

Have extra school supplies? Who needs the 84 pack of pencils they sell? Donate them to the schools. I’ve never heard a teacher turn down extra supplies.. it might win your child brownie points too!

Football season means…

..packing up the car for tailgating.. or having friends over to watch the t.v. on the weekend. Whichever it means for you, make this ritual more fun now! If you’re a tailgater, find the blankets, coolers, stadium chairs in the garage and group them in an area. Using the grill? Make sure it’s clean now, pack up charcoal, utensils, and equipment, so you can grab n’ go! Having friends over? Stock up on snacks, paper supplies, and non-perishables .. so you don’t have to think about it, come game-day.

Prepare for the big game early!

Not a football fan? Make this your time to start packing up summer supplies for the winter. Kid’s pool inflatables, outdoor toys, patio supplies, etc.. If you live in cooler climates, this is the perfect time to get ready for winter. Pack up summer clothes, and start pulling out sweaters, and fall clothing.

Fall.. enjoy it!

Leaves turning colors.. after you rake those big pile of leaves.. go play in them with your friends and family!

Get out and exercise.. the excuse that it’s too hot.. is no longer.

Enjoy the season that doesn’t have any major holiday’s! Before you know it, the hustle and bustle, and stress of the holiday’s will be upon us. Take a breather, and enjoy the season that doesn’t get enough fanfare!

Entry #406, February 4, 2011

The BIG GAME is officially here in the United States, Super Bowl XLV is this Sunday, February 6th it will kickoff. Whether you are rooting for the Green Bay Packers, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the commercials, or you just love to have an excuse to have guests over, today’s post is for you!

Sure, you are ready, but how about your home? Have you thought about where everyone is going to sit? How about how much food you need, and if you have any special diet guests? Lastly, the television – Is it big enough, will everyone be able to see it? If you are starting to scratch your head, read on – here’s the post from Stagetecture’s archives last year – on preparing your home for the BIG GAME!!

Super Bowl XLV – February 6, 2011

Original Entry #21, February 3, 2010

The big game day is coming. You know what team you’re routing for, but do you know how 20 of your friends and family are going to fit in your small living room, around the 17″ t.v.? Relax, let Stagetecture help you get organized now, so on Sunday you can enjoy your guests!

1.) Decor:

Don’t forget the thrift and pharmacy stores! Convenience stores and Dollar stores are great places to stock up on plastic cutlery, cups, paper ware and decorations. Paper table cloths are disposable, and perfect for greasy hands, and munchers!

2.) Food:

Ask guests before they come if they have food allergies, preferences, special diets, etc… You would hate to buy 30 lbs of wings, and everyone is a vegetarian! Once you have an idea, make a budget. Often times you will spend more at a warehouse store, then a grocery store – and will have less choices. Try and grocery shop during the week, or after work to avoid long lines over the weekend. If children are coming, have kid friendly foods too! Your guests will enjoy themselves more, if they can partake in all of the festivities, including foods they enjoy!

Make sure you have a variety of food choices

3.) Viewing Area:

Have alternate seating away from the television too!

If you don’t have enough room around your television, consider renting one from a rental center. Were you considering buying a new t.v.? Electronic stores will have killer sales this week on flat screens, and entertainment electronics. Also remember, everyone doesn’t like football. Some people come for the camaraderie. Consider having a seating area in another room for those who want to talk and laugh.. away from the screen!

4.) Have fun!

Enjoy the day, whether your watching the game or hanging out with friends, the big game gives an excuse to enjoy yourself!

Entry #270, September 9, 2010

Whether you are ready or not, Fall is coming around the corner in a few weeks. I’ve always loved Fall, it’s the perfect balance of temperatures, changing colors in foliage and the kids are back in school! Fall is especially exciting when football season is ramping up and so is preparing for tailgating on the weekends.

Fall is almost here.. embrace it!

A year ago I published this post.. “Fall are you ready?”
