Visiting my local hhgregg store after finishing my spring house cleaning

I don’t know about you, but after I clean my home I always feel like I should get some type of reward for a job well done! Well, that usually doesn’t happen in my home but this time I was excited to travel to my hhgregg electronics store to see the LG Twin Wash System Washer and the LG OLED TV in person.

Why two mixers? Why Not?!

If you’re wondering why you would need two mixers think of this scenario: it’s holiday time you just want to whip up a quick batch of cookies that will take no more than 10 minutes, the hand mixer will be perfect. If you are making 5 dozen cookies for your Christmas cookie swap at work, then the stand mixer is exactly what you need!

My review of the hand & stand mixer:

I’ve reviewed a lot of appliances over the years from the high-end appliances to the lower cost models. I think there is a benefit to all types of appliances

Hand Mixer:

What I liked about the hand mixer was it wasn’t really lightweight – meaning it didn’t feel like it was cheap. My 10 year-old daughter and I used it to make sweet potato casserole during the holidays and it was perfect for her to hold. She’s excited to use it again for Christmas baking! I also liked the snap on tray below to keep all the attachments.

Stand Mixer:

The stand mixer is good when you need to have your hands free and want to make larger quantities. My only negative comment about the stand mixer was that it has really strong suction cups on the bottom. If you’re not expecting it, it requires you to use some strength to move it around the countertop. Besides that it is a wonderful mixer, especially when you have lots of recipes going on!

It’s been a long lasting tradition since I was young that my parents would always decorate the house with gorgeous lights, and fresh evergreen trees as we lived in Colorado growing up – so there was no talk of “artificial trees”. Now that I live in Florida we still get a real tree every year and my daughter likes to help me decorate the fireplace mantle, and bring out family ornaments that date back to 1984. I think family traditions are important around the holidays and decorating and baking always transform our home!

My older sons, age 20 and 17 don’t like for me to take pictures of them baking, so Avrielle (who is far from camera shy) agreed to making our favorite Gibson sweet potato casserole and sweet potato pies this holiday season. It always amazes me how children love to take on your family tradition and make it better. My father has an infamous Christmas sugar cookie recipe we make every year and each year we try and find a new sprinkle to top them with.
