Holiday Craft Idea: Kids’ Cute Monster Mittens

What’ll You Need

Readymade templates of monster mitten

Sewing machine

Scissors

Felt

Iron

How to Make

1. Search online for a monster mitten template and take a printout. You can also use this template from Martha Stewart.
2. Attach felt pieces and fleece the mittens by using all-purpose thread and a sewing needle. Make nostrils with embroidery floss. Use buttons as eyes and stitch them on the templates.
3. Cut out three fins from felt with a scissor and sew them on. Take white rickrack and sew them to the glove’s front curve. It will serve as the teeth of the monster.
4. Cut out two pieces from felt so that they cover up the ¾ part of the top of the mitten. They will serve as the mane of the monster. Use an iron to crumple the felt lengthwise down the middle.
5. Attach the pieces together with a pin and cut a frill on both the sides with pinking shears. Stitch the crumpled felt and the frill to the mitten.
6. Now, make the ears of the monster. Cut out orange and pink felt triangles and glue them together. Sew on.
7. Cut a felt piece in the shape of a tongue and stitch is to the bottom of the mitten.
8. Now, make the scales by cutting two same-size pieces of felt. Stack and slip the top piece down. Pin and use an iron to crumble down the middle. Sew to the glove.
9. To make a darting tongue, stitch a notched rectangle.

This kids craft project can be carried on in any kid’s party or a birthday party when there is no way to carry on outdoor activities because of snow or rainfall. The craft is definitely a keeper and will be liked equally by young and old ones.
