Your picture frames play an essential part in choosing your images. It will set the theme on what is your motif. If you want a vintage look in your hallways, then you can set your frames with old-fashioned designs. Ensure your picture frame mounts are secure while hanging. Also, there are frames that looks so elegant and that will definitely make your hallway look elegant.

Arrangements

The arrangements of your pictures matter. This will make or break everything that you have prepared. You may have it done in parallel, vertical or horizontal alignment. It can also be done in random placement but should maintain a system of creativity to make it look beautiful and not messy.

Lighting

Appropriate lighting are important to illuminate the pictures. It gives life to your pictures and highlights the whole setting. It would be great if you have spotlights for each picture you have in your hallways. The details of the pictures will be noticed in the presence of lights. If you don’t have enough light, choose pictures that are brighter and colorful.

How to Create Useful Storage in your Home’s Hallways

If you are remodeling or building a new home, it would be of great help to you to know how to create useful storage for hallways so that you can make the most of the space & how you get organized in a large or small area. If you have a small home, you are sure to agree with me that space will always be an issue but only if you allow it to because there are lots of ways you can create storage space even from the crannies of connecting spaces, especially if your home has a hallway. Listed below are some tips to help you out.

Creating Tall Bookcases:

All you need in this instance are shallow but very tall bookcases and getting them lined up close to each other in the space under the hallway. If the contents of the bookcases have visual appeal in the case of photos and books, you can leave the bookcase open or install sliding glass doors. If the contents are not attractive in any way, you can suspend curtains or fabric from the ceiling to cover the bookcases. These fabrics serve as coverings and at the same time, add a unique type of colour splash within your hallway.

Using Storage Benches:

There are various designs and sizes of storage benches that are available out there. You can go for the ones with movable tops or built-in shelves. They should not be too long or large so that movement around the hallway is not inhibited. With this bench, you have where to sit and remove or wear your shoes as you enter or go out of the house and at the same time, store some of your items.

Corner Shelves:

Finally on how to create useful storage for hallways, if your hallway happens to be very narrow, you can install corner shelves and hooks all through the full length of the wall. This is one sure way of creating storage in your hallway without inhibiting movement. You can even pad the top of the lowest shelve so that you and other members of the family can sit on it to wear or remove shoes.

Remember to have it at the back of your mind that in your bid to add extra storage, you should not unknowingly take up most of the space in your living room. Also, ensure that the storage plans you have for the hallway are not such that would negatively alter the décor or style of your home.

While the idea of an ebook has always been an idea of mine, I really didn’t know how to compile the essence of Stagetecture into a source that would be helpful, beautiful, and inspiring for every room in your home.

After many sleepless nights and talking with many of you, I realized that all of the information that is contained on Stagetecture is what readers already love, so compile the best tips in short snippets with beautiful images and create a room-by-room decorating and organizing ebook for everyone to enjoy!

So why did I pick 111? Whether you believe in numerology or not, I have learned that 111 means:

Several posts have centered around storage, and maximizing vertical space. The ‘hidden’ vertical space on walls is one of the most under utilized portion of most rooms. From hallways to library’s, let’s look at some rooms that optimize the architectural elements of the room and take advantage of vertical space.

Apartment Therapy has an article that showcases beautiful walls that use vertical space for display items or to store books.  However you use your vertical space is up to you, just USE it!

Display items:

When considering shelving, use top shelves for display items that you won’t need to

access often. Consider display lighting in niches of the shelving to give depth and enhance display items in the evening.

Do-it-yourself:

If you don’t have shelving already installed in your home, consider adding it yourself. Home improvement centers have easy do-it-yourself kits that can save you money.  If you’re not a whiz with instructions, hire a carpenter that can help you make your dream a reality.  A few hundred dollars can be the difference in having to put items in storage, or take up valuable room in closets. The money will be well spent, and think how great your walls will look.
