If you like to cook, chances are your pantry is filled with stuff. But it can be hard to access items if your pantry is chaotic. If you are tired of your messy pantry and want to organize it, you’ve come to the right place. After organizing, you’ll know where all your items are and become more prepared in planning meals. Use these kitchen decluttering ideas to transform your pantry.

Simple Kitchen Decluttering Ideas: How to Organize your Pantry

Use organizers to put your pantry in order

Image via: Rilane

[ad#co-1]

Add a Pantry Storage Cabinet

A pantry storage cabinet can extend your kitchen storage. It allows you to organize your cereal boxes, dinner sets, bottles, cook books, and more. Some cabinets are equipped with shelves to hold kitchen accessories of different sizes. Pantry storage cabinets not only add style to your pantry, they also add capacity. You can also display some decorative items on top of yours.

Use Pantry Organizers to Declutter

Say goodbye to kitchen clutter

Image via: Tiny Me

Decluttering your pantry helps you to plan meals easily and know what’s missing when shopping for groceries. Take stock of what you have, list the items you use most, and those you rarely use. Some unused items can clutter your pantry and make it the last place you want to be. Use closet racks to organize cabinets, a tissue box to hold plastic bags, T-molding to hold stemware, and angled shelving to organize spices. You can also use small spring-tension rods to create additional shelves.

Draw Inspiration from Kitchen Organization Ideas

Kitchen organization ideas can serve as inspiration for pantry organization. Just as you do in your kitchen, place your cookbooks in open shelves, arrange items by frequency of use, and group similar objects together. Place items you use frequently within easy reach and those you use occasionally on higher shelves. Put wrapping and plastic bags together in a drawer so you don’t have a hard time storing leftovers. Lastly, stack nest plastic containers and their tops in the same drawer to make them readily available.

Copy Your Closet Design

Your closet has a place for everything: folded clothes, hanging ones, shoes, and even bags. That’s why you don’t have to spend a long time looking for shoes before you go out. That’s how your pantry should be. Designate a place for everything to ensure you don’t have to spend a lot of time looking for things. You can put canned foods in one section, bottles in another, and pet food in another.

Create a place for everything

Image via: Bobvila

The pantry is usually one of the most disorganized areas of a home. Don’t let your pantry be a place where clutter resides. Put it in order with these kitchen decluttering ideas. You’ll never be frustrated when looking for items.

What kitchen organization tips can you share with us?

New Year has dawned upon us and most of us are busy organizing and improvising our homes and lifestyle for the better. I am sure there are new ideas spurting in your head and you must be thinking of places to start with. When in doubt, a kitchen could be a great place to begin. Kitchen organization that provides a clutter free look and a safe environment to work, can ensure a stress free start to the New Year. So here is sharing with you a few ideas that can prompt new beginnings in your love affair with your kitchen.

Kitchen Organization For A Stress Free New Year

[ad#co-1]

Home Organization: Arrange Pots & Pans Near The Cooking Range

This New Year choose to be a smart worker rather than a hard worker. Try and keep the cooking pots and pans near the cooking range so that the utensils are within a hands reach when you start cooking. This will help you be efficient in the kitchen and will prevent unnecessary running around looking for pots, pans and lids.

Declutter for Useful Kitchen Organization

Just like the New Year, kitchen organization efforts must begin on a clean slate. A clutter free, clean look is something that I would love to suggest. And with great cabinetry solutions that take in all the kitchen paraphernalia, a clutter free look shouldn’t be a difficult thing to achieve. Besides keeping in all the crockery and knick-knacks, you can even create a shelf exclusively for the electronic items and save so much on the otherwise permanently occupied counter space. You will pat yourself on the back, for achieving a spic and span look, with the advantage of ‘it’ all being at one place.

Pantry Organization: Keep your Kitchen Safe

Safety, is something we should all try and achieve this New Year, be it in the kitchen or our lives in general. As far as the kitchen is concerned, sharp things are the ones that scare me, especially with the little ones getting more and more inquisitive. Wouldn’t it be great to tuck away the knives and other sharp objects at one place, away from the mind and sight of kids!

Pantry Shelving: Keep Produce Fresh

With the decluttered and safe kitchen part being taken care of, there is one more thing in my wish list for a great kitchen. This year I would love to purchase fresh greens from the market and cook healthy for my family. Having the veggies in sight, rather than in the fridge can provide an area for them to be accessible while cooking! Look to options in pantry shelving to keep your produce fresh and organized.

My mantra for this New Year’s kitchen organization regime would include a clutter free look, a safe work environment and to include something that inspires the ideas of healthy living. Needless to add that innovative design ideas and ingenious storage solutions can provide an array of options to choose from! Of course there is so much more that one can add to the list above. It would be wonderful to hear from you on how you plan to organize your kitchen this New Year. Please do share!

Home Organization: 5 Time-Saving Kitchen Hacks

[ad#co-1]

1. Keep Spices in Order

Many of us just love to use spices and herbs in cooking. But, what about numerous spice bottles and petite packages scattered on the kitchen island or inside the cabinet? Nightmare! A spice rack affixed to the inside of a cabinet door or a lazy Susan standing in the cabinet corner will keep your herbs and spices organized. Label the bottles and packages to save more time!

2. A Basket for Baking Supplies

Love to bake? Use a basket to keep all the baking supplies like baking soda, baking powder, xanthin gum, cream of tartar, kosher salt, etc. It’s tiresome and time-wasting to walk back and forth to the cabinet while baking. Instead, just keep the basket on the counter and put it back in the cabinet when you are finished.

3. Save Time with Cleaning Supplies

A basket or bucket under the sink is a good storage option but it eventually gets messy when a number of bottled and small products end up there. The best thing to save you from this mess is a tension rod. Install one under the sink and hang the cleaning supply bottles there. Waste your time no more hunting through the basket for cleaning supplies!

4. Freeze up Slow Cooker Meals

If you are a working mom, you will understand how much time and effort has to be given for cooking. So, pack the recipe of various slow cooker meals in separate zipped up bags and store them in the freezer. It will be a huge time-saver during the weekdays. And, make it up to your family by cooking a grand meal on Sunday!

5. Manage the Dirty Dishes

What comes after eating? A sink filled with a mountain of dirty dishes, cups, glasses, and spoons! Horrible! Putting them right in the dishwasher will keep the sink clean and save your time. You can also teach your kids about how to help you in keeping the kitchen clean. In addition, serving right from the pot and lining the baking pans with foil will spare you from a lot of dishwashing.

These tips are handy in making your kitchen tasks less hazardous. As these home organization hacks have saved you time in cleaning, organizing, and searching in the kitchen, you can give more time to your kids.

Loved the hacks? Share some of your secrets with us!

Hardly any homeowner is there who does not think about a gorgeous kitchen renovation. As kitchen is the hub of activities in a home, it is important to have an organized and neatly arranged kitchen to get all the cooking work done. One of the most vital parts of kitchen organization is to have an organized pantry. You do not need to go crazy over how to clean up and organize that space as these helpful tips will help you along the way.

Kitchen Organization: Taming Your Disorganized Pantry

Clean & Organize Regularly

Regular cleaning is a good way to keep the mess coming back! Shake your laziness off and be prepared to clean up the place and make small organization on a regular basis. In addition, sort through the pantry regularly to decide what you should keep and what to discard so that the place does not turn into a mess of clutter.

Image via: Pinterest

Divide & Section the Pantry

Dividing the pantry into several areas will help you keeping the food items and different ingredients organized and cut short you meal preparation time. You can separate the areas according to categories like portable lunches, baking, weekend dinners, bbq, etc. and store relative items in the designated sections. Label each section for easy finding. Remember keeping the most often-used sections in easy reach or in front part.

Easily find out what you want with labels!

Image via: Design Dining and Diapers

Glass Jars & Labels

Apart from categorizing the pantry, another handy organization trick is to devise a way to easily find what you want. A good idea is to keep the ingredients in glass jars that will allow you to see the kitchen staples without wasting any time. It will also add an old French style to your pantry. Another easy way of identification is adding labels. It is a great way to keep track of your inventory. Adding similar type of labels to the ingredient jars and boxes will also add an element of uniformity and character in the place.

Organize pantry glass jars

Image via: Design Ideas

Baskets for Small Ingredients

Baskets are a safe option when organizing. Whether wire or woven, baskets and plastic bins can be used for storing anything. In fact, they can not only store bulkier products but can be the solution to mild hoarding problem as well. Keep the small items including toothpicks, napkins, fast-fix appetizers, and trays that you often need in your kitchen in small baskets or bins. This will keep the small items together that will otherwise be scattered throughout the pantry.

Kitchen pantry organization

Image via: Organization Ideas

Resort to Hanging Style

The key to any organization project is to make the most of the space you have. So, using hooks and other hanging options will be effective in carving out more room in your pantry. Especially, this option can be used for pots and pans, which will otherwise take much space of the place. Bulky cookware that usually take bigger space and can be lost in a heap in the pantry can also be hung in this style.

Divide into sections!

Image via: Babble

With warmer weather just around the corner, it’s about time to shake off those cobwebs and start spring cleaning. While the main rooms of your house might require the most attention, it’s important not to forget about smaller spaces such as your pantry. Using these pantry organization tips, you can spruce things up in just a few minutes and develop a system that will help keep things orderly all year long.

Pantry Organization ideas

Image via: Kerri Robusto Interiors

[ad#co-1]

Completely Clean Out your Pantry

The first step toward an organized pantry is being aware of what you already have. Start by taking each item out and checking the expiration date. Toss any foods that are past their prime and consider donating items that are still good, but you know you won’t use. While the shelves are still bare, take the opportunity to give things a good scrub down with wet paper towels. You’ll be surprised how much cleaner things will feel afterwards.

Invest In Storage Solutions:

Whether you have a walk-in butler’s pantry or just a few cabinets, odds are you don’t have as much space as you would like. Make the most out of every inch by investing in storage solutions such as bins, raisers, and lazy susans. Get creative by repurposing things like back-of-the-door shoe racks to store snacks or a magnetic board to hang your spices. Whenever possible, clear storage is best because it allows you to see everything you have at a glance.

Invest in storage solutions in your kitchen pantry

Image via: transFORM | The Art of Custom Storage

Don’t Fight Filing:

As weird as it may sound, creating a filing system for your pantry goods will help you work a lot faster in the kitchen. Use your storage solutions to group items by type – put rice next to pasta and other boxed starches, etc. Place foods you eat everyday on the lower shelves, while putting lesser-used ones higher up. Finally, if you buy more than one of the same item at a time, take a cue from the supermarket and place foods with the nearest expiration date up front. That way, you have the least chance of wasting foods that have expired.

Consider Going Digital:

This one is more to help with ongoing organization. If you’re the type have information available with the swipe of a finger, consider making a spreadsheet of all your pantry foods. Create a sheet that has five columns: food group, item name, quantity, and expiration date. Then, fill in a row for each for each individual package. With an easily-updatable spreadsheet at your fingertips, grocery shopping will get a whole lot easier.

Consider pantry organization on pullout glides

Image via: W. David Seidel, AIA – Architect

Hectic days and buy schedules can make chores like sprucing up the pantry fall to the end of your to-do list. However, if you have a few minutes for spring cleaning, these pantry organization tips will help save your family time and money.

Kitchen organization is essential for creating a functional and smooth place for working and cooking. Organizing kitchen utensils is somewhat a tough and confusing task because these things feature a variety of shapes and sizes. Check out the following tips to know how you can keep these things organized without much fuss.

Kitchen Organization: Helpful Utensil Storage Ideas

Pullout kitchen storage ideas

Image via: Houzz

Get Rid of the Useless Utensils

The first rule of organizing anything is decluttering. It will lessen your hazards and demand less time during the organization. Sort out the utensils and gadgets that you have never used or have been using no longer. In addition, get rid of the utensils that are dysfunctional, broken, and are a real pain in the bun to use. However, it will better checking with your local recycling station before throwing out anything that can be recycled.

Hanging Rod for Regular Utensils

The utensils that are regularly used should be kept within hand’s reach. With an over-the-range hanging rod, hang those things over the stove. Use s-shaped hooks to hang spoons and spatulas with that rod. It will definitely provide you with a smart, practical, and convenient storing option.

Storage option – an unique storage option.

Image via: BHG

Easy Access Option for Everyday Dishes

[ad#co-1]

The everyday dishes should be stored in a place that is easy to access. A small cabinet for dishes and glassware placed close to the dishwasher will be the most convenient one. A pantry cabinet or a tall furniture style hutch will be great too. If your kitchen does not have much wall storage option, use drawer inserts from where you can take the stack of plates at once while setting the table. You can also take off the door off any of your existing cabinets and put the dishes there.

Storage Option for Smaller Utensils

An effective storage option is necessary for keeping the smaller utensils that will make clutter if kept open or inside a drawer. A cabinet above the refrigerator can be a good choice for organizing the wine bottles, over-sized bowls, and cookbooks. Adapt the cabinet by installing an extra shelf or adding a wine rack.

On the other hand, some awkward-shaped utensils are there like knives, egg shakers, large pots, etc. They need a different type of storage option. Carve out some space under the baker’s rack or kitchen island and put them on an open shelf. Standard-sized spice bottles will fit in drawer organizers while a cabinet close to the stove will be fitting for taller bottles and spice jars. Use pot rack over the island for pots and roll-out shelves for pans.

A handy storage option for awkward utensils.

Image via: BHG

Finally, put the silverware in an upper small drawer nearby the sink or dishwasher. Otherwise, put them in mason jars and use item collectively as a centerpiece on the kitchen island or table. What clever kitchen organization ideas do you use in your home?

A well-organized kitchen pantry is really a fine thing. This extra storage space is always welcomed. But if we don’t take care of it, it can soon turn into a nightmare every time we want to find something. So, kitchen pantry organization has to be on top of our priorities if we want to get maximum use out of it. Here are some tips on how to do that without paying much for it.

How to Organize your Kitchen Pantry for Less

Organize the kitchen pantry by using baskets

How to Organize your Kitchen Pantry for Less

Containers, Boxes and Trays

Containers, trays and boxes are just must-haves for kitchen pantry organization. Wire racks are also great and versatile. If they aren’t clear, labels are the best way to go, so you always know what’s in them.

Clear containers have the advantage that you can keep an eye on when they need to be refilled. Clear jars and bottles are also very helpful and a great way to make your pantry look amazing at the same time. You can re-use glass jars and bottles which you’ve bought from a store by just removing the labels. Most of them come off easily if soaked in warm soapy water for a couple of hours. Also, try brushing a mix of one part olive oil and two part baking soda on the labels, to make peeling them off easier.

Storage from Top to Bottom

A great way to achieve kitchen pantry organization is to try and make use of every single space available so you have a place for every item. Put things you don’t use often on the highest part of your pantry and bottles and heavy stuff on the floor, but keep a stool or ladder handy so you can reach the items stored high.

Also, make use of corners and space behind doors. With a few handyman skills you can even use space you would never think that you could use. To do this, you can screw on some spice racks on the inside of the cabinet doors to hold your spices. Also, screw – or glue with strong adhesive – glass jar lids under a shelf or cabinet and you will instantly have cheap additional storage for small things.

Save space by attaching clear glass jars under a cabinet

Keep on Top of Clutter and Contents

The most important thing to do to have an organized pantry is to keep control over the clutter and its contents. And it comes for free, too. To do this, regular cleaning is of outmost importance. This way you also ensure hygiene and getting rid of spoiled goods.

To minimize stuff lying freely around you can use some cheap solutions, other than boxes or trays. For instance, use Velcro to fasten together granola bars or candy bags. Also, some plain plastic over-the-door shoe holders are a clever and cheap solution to keep your small supplies organized.

Wire racks are inexpensive and space saving pantry organization tools

Image via: Houzz

Kitchen pantry organization has not to be something costly, nor does it need complicated gear or expensive hardware. Just try to keep in control of your pantry and make use of the tips described here and you will have much more fun in the kitchen.

Entry #2910, October 17, 2013

Last weekend I sat down to sort out my ever increasing grocery bills when I realized that I was buying way more than what was being consumed in my household. This is when I shook up and dragged myself to achieving good pantry organization. I was amazed at the clutter I had collected. I had twos and in some cases threes of stuff that I did not even use.

Pantry ideas to get organized

Image via: Houzz

The whole incident made me realize the importance of maintaining a clutter free pantry. Here are simple steps to help you get the pantry in order:

1. Pantry organization – Start with a clean slate

Set aside a day in your calendar for organizing the pantry. Pull out everything from the shelves and place them together in one place. Give your shelves a good clean with soapy water and air them out for some time while you sort. Replace the old shelf liners with new ones.

A well – organized pantry can help you save money

Image via: Pinterest

2. Sorting and prepping

Start by sorting out any expired food items and place them in a large garbage bag to avoid mixing them up again. Next group your food products according to their categories. So place all the cereals together, spices together and so on. Once again sort out anything that can be donated and bag these separately.

If you use glass canisters or plastic jars, label them clearly.

Kitchen pantry ideas

Image via: Houzz

[ad#co-1]

3. Space planning your pantry

The secret to a well laid out and functional pantry is proper space planning. Once you have categorized the food items in your pantry, think of items that you use every day, items that you use occasionally and items that are very rarely used.

Place the heaviest and the bulkiest items that are difficult to lift in the bottom – most shelf. This includes bulk purchases that you make from Costco.

Clearly label everything clearly

Image via: Pinterest

Next place the most frequently used food products in the middle shelves. You can further segregate these according to their use, for example, keep the baking supplies together and club the specialty foods like organic or gluten-free together. Also, keep a separate tray of soon to expire food stuff on the middle shelves so you remember to use these quickly. These should be at eye level and easily accessible.

Finally place the food products that you rarely use on the top shelves. You can also place food stuff that you would rather stay away from like a bag of potato chips or ice cream topping on the top.

Once your pantry organization has been achieved with the food items you already have, make a list of what you need buy in order to restock. A well-organized pantry will help you save hundreds of dollars per year in grocery bills.

A kitchen pantry is often added to a kitchen to increase the storage space. However, the pantry is also needed to be cleaned, organized, straightened, and spruced in order to make the space more functional. Here is given some pantry makeover ideas that will help you with the storage of your kitchen.

Kitchen pantry ideas

Choose a Functional Design

The design of your pantry plays big role in adding functionally to your kitchen storage space. Walk-in closets and pantries are popular choices but some pantries can be super functional without being the walk-in variety. Instead of a walk-in pantry, you can use a closet that is reasonably wide and only a couple of feet deep or you can go for an open floor-to-ceiling pantry type that can offer a quick view of what is in stock and can store a lot of items. To get the maximum storage space from the pantry, its design should be based on the available kitchen space and the type of things you are going to store in it. If you live in a smaller home – a closet can be converted into a pantry and separated with accordion doors to hide pantry items and to provide versatility & separation of areas.

Add Drawers, Shelves, or Racks

Pantries are good for storing bulkier items like plastic storage containers or paper towels. However, not all the things you store in the pantry will be of same size. Some things are likely to be quite small than the standard size. So, for the smaller loose items, consider adding a few drawers. One or two racks or mini-shelves can be added to keep the spice cans organized.

kitchen pantry organization

Image via: Schappacher White Architecture D.P.C.

Use Storage Gadgets

One effective way to make your available space more functional is to add storage gadgets and devices. Accessories like baskets, spice racks, drawers, tray dividers, etc. can keep your pantry ordered. Use bins to keep lax items together. Use pull out shelves to access the back area of deep shelves and access the corner areas by installing Lazy Susans. To maximize storage, you can also use shelves on the backs of pantry doors. However, before purchasing, be sure what add-ons will fit your pantry closet design. If you share a space with a roommate consider personalizing your storage gadgets with labels on built-in shelving, wire shelving, rubber bins/drawers and use accordion room dividers to separate individuals items from other roommates.

Kitchen office bifold doors – create an office from an unused pantry or closet

Image via: Bess Jones Interiors

These ideas will hopefully make your pantry more obtainable, practical, and functional and help you to get an organized and beautiful food storage area.
