Dress stuffed toys for Christmas

There is no need to buy expensive figurines or seasonal stuffed animals. Just dress up existing toys or use them in another way. For example, dress dolls and animals with scarfs, mittens, hats and boots. Use trains and other toys for wintery decorations, upgrading them with white cotton or fake snow.

Decorate the bed

Christmassy beddings and pillows can add warmth to every room. Choosing a more wintery theme for the fabrics, will make them be used for far more time than only for the Christmas season. Another option is to decorate the bed itself with small wreaths, stockings or garlands.

Make the best out of a corner or niche

It is not necessary to decorate the whole room. Find a niche, a shelf or a corner and decorate it generously with lights and seasonal items. Baskets filled with Christmassy stuffed animals and toys will be a great addition to the room.

Make a mantle to decorate

Why not having a fake fireplace in the room that can be decorated? A nice shelf can do the trick, or you could paint the outline of a mantle and decorate it. Crafting a mantle out of cardstock paper is also a great idea. Another option is to paint a mantle with charcoal wall paint and use colorful chalk to create the outline and duplicate a warm fire. Hang stockings and decorate with ornaments to give the fake mantle a festive look.

Use the walls

Decorating the walls can be so easy when using themed stickers or even wallpaper with some wintery images. Let the kids help putting up the stickers and arrange some lights to give a more warm touch. Also, stars can be fashioned out of cardboard and hang on the wall. Don’t forget decorating the windows with snowflakes or hanging ornaments. If the room is not large enough for a tree, just make a tree on the wall using lights or ornaments. For smaller children a felt Christmas tree hang on the wall with felt decorations for the toddlers to attach to the tree again and again is a fun and easy activity.

Let your children get creative and make some colorful decorations to use in their room. There is a great variety of crafts to choose from for any age. This will give the children a great opportunity to use their imagination and to try out their decoration skills. Let them go wild, after all it’s their room!

Materials Needed

• Tree branches (any size)
• Container (bucket)  to be filled with stones
• Ribbons (any color)
• Christmas cards
• Assorted beads
• Tie wire
• Hole punch

Procedure

1. Arranged the pieces of branches together in an empty bucket. Fill the bucket with the stones one by one. Make sure that the stones will be able to sturdily hold the branches together while applying weight on your Christmas tree.
2. Make a hole in your each of the Christmas cards using a hole punch. Insert and knot a ribbon on each card so you can tie them up in the branches. Be generous with the length of your ribbon, about 8 – 10 inches will do. Distribute the Christmas cards evenly on all sides.  Also, choosing a color scheme for your ribbon should make it look neat.
3. After tying all the Christmas cards, take time to look into the positions of your cards and make some adjustments if you see it necessary. Ensure that all sides are balanced in terms of the card display.
4. Finally, tie a larger ribbon at the bottom of your branches to create an accent. Tie this ribbon in a bow-like manner all around the branches.

That should do it! You now have a creative and attractive Christmas card tree that can be a great centerpiece for your home. Place your wrapped gifts around the Christmas card tree to complete the setup. You can display this beautiful project at anywhere you desire. Some buy a fabulous ornament from a store, but isn’t it much more fun and creative to just make your own? You can make one or more creative DIY Christmas ornaments, depending on the use for the ornaments. Decorating Ornaments From The Outside

One of the simplest methods is to buy some clear ornaments and paint them or wrap them with whatever you feel like. You can use glass paint, enamel paint pens or glitter paint for making your own creations. Also, wrapping them with fabric scraps – even from clothing that you love and cherish but no longer use, such as baby clothing – or paper or even yarn is a wonderful idea.

To make such a wrapped ornament you can use Styrofoam balls, paper or fabric, a paintbrush, glue, a ribbon, a bowl with soap and water and a rug. Cover the ball with glue and cover it with the fabric or paper scraps. Paint again with glue and let them dry. Glue two strains of the ribbon to make a loop for the ornament to hang from.

An even easier way is to take yarn and wrap the ball completely, or to use a large piece of nice fabric, using glue to keep everything in place. Just wrap the ball in it, tie the top with a matching ribbon and maybe adding some holy leaves and berries and it can be awesome.

Decorating Ornaments From The Inside

To do that you will have to buy some clear glass ornaments balls from your craft shop. There are endless things you can fill those ornaments up with. You can fill them with paint or some sparkling nail polisher and shake the ball so the fluid goes everywhere.

Or you can fill them with tiny bells or beads. Other items that are great are sequins, glitter dust, candies, ribbons and whatever else can be fitted through the opening. Even rosemary or lavender branches, branches with holy leaves and berries, or evergreens are a great way to go.

Also, scraps of paper that have meaningful words written on them or even photos can be used as well. That way, you can even create a sort of “time capsule”, filled with notes of important events, pictures or even small items that mean something to you.

Use Felt And Imagination

Out of colorful felt fabric you can create the nicest ornaments. You can use templates available for free on the internet and follow the simple instructions. There is no end to the ornaments you can create. Just to name a few, you can choose between Snowmen, Reindeers, Santa, Christmas Trees and Angels, which are really simple to make and a lot of fun.

Up-cycle Items You Don’t Longer Need

There are so many things in our homes that have great potentials we just don’t think off. So, why not take a plunge into your children’s toy box. Maybe you can find some plastic horses, fairies or wooden cubes that can be used as they are or painted on. The wooden cubes can be painted with glitter paint and wrapped with a ribbon to make cute gift ornaments.

Use round bottle caps to paint them white and make some snow men. If you have wooden sticks of different lengths you can easily make a tree.

Even small mason jars can be filled with fake snow and seasonal items to make a nice ornament. To hang them just make a hole through the lid or wrap twine around them.

Using simple things that you already have in your house, the kids can make some great Christmas Greeting cards to send to the ones far away. Make Easy “Gingerbread” Houses

To make these is such fun. And they are so easy to make. Everyone can help, and if you wrap them with some clear cellophane wrap and tie it with a beautiful ribbon, they will make a great edible gift.

To make these, you will need graham crackers, frosting to use as glue (either from the store or make your own) and lots and lots of candy to decorate. Also, use a rectangle shaped cardboard to use as a base on which you will glue the base first graham cracker.

Make Crafty Snowmen

Using everyday items like buttons, corks, clay or round cut cardboard and felt, create some imaginative cute snow men that won’t melt away. You can use any round objects that you can find and that can be painted white. For the decorations use felt or other fabric you can find at home.

A cute idea is to create snow men out of white socks. Cut the top of the socks and set it the foot part aside. Tie the one end of the sock leg and fill it with rice. With a rubber band create the body and the head of the snow men. Now, tie the upper end up. Decorate the snowmen with pins, buttons, fabric, or felt. At the end, use the top of the sock you put aside to make the hat and the cute fellow is ready to play, decorate or give away.
