The season to celebrate Irish heritage and to celebrate with green is on its way. St. Patrick’s Day is a great all-ages event. On this day, many people like to throw a small party together with friends and family members rather than hanging out at local pubs. Some ideas are given here which will hopefully help you to host a great party on St. Patrick’s Day.

St. Patrick’s Day is all about going green. So, the color scheme is already decided for you. However, instead of loading the place with trunk-load of green streamers and fabrics, get creative with touches of one or two other colors too.

Party Room Decoration

Leprechauns and shamrocks are the obvious choices and so as the balloons and green plates. Instead of buying, try to make the decoration pieces at home. Involve your kids and their friends in the process. They will enjoy it very much.

Make shamrocks out of green-colored posterboard, put them on the doors and walls, and hang them from the ceiling. Buy small green glass vases by raiding antique shops and scour garage sales. Place one or two flower sticks on each of them and display them on different surfaces around the house.

Take some transparent vases and fill them with glass beads of green and white colors. Place them on end tables or coffee tables. You can also fill these vases half with beads and then place a large pillar candle wrapped up with green ribbons on each of them.

Use green helium balloons, green light bulbs in lamps, and shamrock-shaped party lights to give final touch to the decorations.

Table Decorations

Create a centerpiece for the dining table by making a green flower arrangement. Use roses, carnations, chrysanthemums, or some other variations for this purpose. Add some greens to the flower arrangement by using shamrocks and eucalyptus. You can also turn white flowers into green by soaking them in green-colored water for minimum eight hours. Use food color to make the water green. You can also use a large bowl filled with green apples as a centerpiece. It will add a natural as well as healthy touch to the table.

Add a touch of Celtic patterns to tablecloths, placemats, and napkins with some fabric paints and a stencil. Use the stencil and fabric paints to create Celtic designs on the tablecloth or napkins. Use green ribbons for napkin rings or tie them with twine with a shamrock inserted in each of them.

‘Lucky Charms’ cereal and gold-foil-wrapped chocolate coins will add to the decorations and can be served as snacks. Fill large bowls with these snacks and keep them on the dining table.

Find a big rock or make one from Styrofoam and use it as your ‘Blarney Stone’. Place it near the door so that your guests can kiss it while entering the house. Do not forget to rule out alcohol from the celebration if you plan to invite kids to your party.
