Large open star tip – cake decorating tip set and pastry bag

Photo Blossoms

A cute Mother’s Day Gift that can be made with kids is a Photo Blossom Card. Just cut pictures into circles and glue or tape them inside of cheerful paper muffin liners. Cut some leaves and stems out of colored paper or even felt and arrange them together with the muffin liners into photo blossoms by gluing them on a nice cardstock background. Write a beautiful message on the back of the card to complete this cheerful gift!

Using a wooden crafts letter, you can prepare this amazing photo collage decorative letter.  Use her initials or the letter “M” for Mom. Kids’ Mother’s Day Craft: Homemade Ceramic Tile Coasters

Materials:

• Square ceramic tiles (4-inch each)

• Ornamental and colorful paper napkins

• Paintbrush

• Waterproof glue

• Mod Podge

• Felt

• Polyurethane, sandpaper (optional)

How to Make

• Clean the tiles. Now, brush a coat of Mod Podge on their tops and edges.

• Place a piece of paper napkin on the top surface of the tiles before the Mod Podge gets dried out. Fold the napkin on each tile to cover the edges.

• Wait 3-5 minutes to let the napkins set on the tiles. Tear away or cut the excess napkin very carefully.

• You can smooth out the rough edges of the tiles by using sandpaper. However, you can also leave them as they are to give them a homemade, handpainted look.

• Apply three coats of polyurethane to the upper surface and edges of the tiles. Keep them for a while to let them dry completely between coats. However, this step is optional and you can skip it if found unsuitable.

• Now, it is time to give the finishing touch to the coasters. Cut out felt pieces equal to the size of the tiles and set them to the bottom of the tiles with waterproof glue.

Your coasters are ready! The advantages of this kid’s craft are it is not only very easy to make but also very cost effective.

DIY Relaxing Bath Teas

Materials Needed

• Peppermint leaves
• Lavender buds
• Heat-sealable tea bags
• Chamomile buds
• Dried organic lemon verbena

Procedure

1. Prepare the heat-sealable tea bags in the filling process. Fill in the bags with peppermint, ¼ cup lemon verbena, chamomile or lavender. A piece of tea bag can gratify a single relaxing bath. For smaller bags, fill in five ¼-inch starched muslin circles with a tablespoon of botanicals. You can always adjust the quantity as desired.
2. Fasten it with waxed twine. Make sure that the tea bags are securely fastened to prevent clutter.
3. Get some pieces of used tea storages. This can be your typical tea storage made of corrugated paper. You just need to creatively cover it up with colored paper and personalized its design. Choose the favorite color/s of your mom.

Bear in mind that anything that you give to your mother will always be appreciated. Much more when it’s heartily given and extra efforts are made. A Mother’s Day Brunch Menu

How will you celebrate your Mom on May 12^th?  A restaurant can get expensive and if you don’t have reservations getting a table can be tricky.  An outdoor Mother’s Day Brunch is a simple and informal way to make your mom feel special.

• The menu for this brunch features ham strata, which is prepared the night before, refrigerated and then baked in the morning (for those who are vegetarians just substitute the ham with mushrooms and spinach or another vegetable of your choice).  It’s simple but oh so delicious and with the prep work done the night before it eliminates a lot of time spent in the kitchen on Mother’s Day.  
• Monkey Bread adds a delicious sweet element to the meal and is incredibly easy to make when you use Rhodes frozen dinner rolls.
• Finish it off with a refreshing watermelon fruit salad “cake” and hot coffee or tea and you have the perfect Mother’s Day brunch menu that’s certain to make your Mom smile!

Tablescape Design & Decorations

Since the brunch will be held outdoors, nature will provide the perfect backdrop for your party.  Try to find a special place in your yard where the flowers are blooming or there’s a pretty shade tree and begin setting your table using natural elements such as the ones I’ve shown in my design board.  I started with burlap table runners and then added classic blue mason jars which go beautifully with the fragrant lilacs as a centerpiece.

You can use any fresh flowers such as roses, peonies or even a mix of wildflowers but keep the vessel that contains them simple and let the flowers be the focal point…Moms love fresh flowers!

A trick I’ve learned from hosting many holiday dinners is using colorful paper plates (don’t forget to recycle!) and placing them on inexpensive gold chargers.  This really cuts down on time spent washing dishes but still adds a touch of elegance and it’s perfect for an outdoor party.  To add a special touch to the silverware, wrap them in a small piece of burlap or simply tie a piece of jute around them in a simple bow.

Add garden lights, some colorful tissue paper balls hanging from a tree branch and the burlap “Family” flag banner is a sentimental touch that will be a special gift for Mom to hang in her home.  Don’t forget to mix and match chairs, cups, silverware, etc. as this keeps the tablescape interesting and not too formal.
