[ad#co-1]

Follow these steps to achieve the perfect ombre wall in your home:

Select Colors for your Paint Project:

The first thing you’ll have to decide is if you want a single color ombre wall (aka, one color that gradually fades to white), or a multicolor ombre wall (a dark shade, medium shade, and light shade). For multicolor, you can either choose three shades from the same color family or slightly different colors that blend together well. Digs Digs has some great tips and ombre inspiration for your decorating.

Gather Paint Supplies:

Purchase the paint in the color(s) that you’ve selected for your wall. You will also need a primer, painter’s tape, a tray, roller, paint brushes, and sponge.

Painting Preparation Tips:

While you’re certainly excited to jump into your project, you won’t be satisfied with the results unless you prep the walls properly. Begin by wiping down the walls to remove any excess dust/debris, sanding down any rough spots, and if necessary, patching any holes. Make sure to also apply a coat of primer to create an even, solid base for the paint to adhere to. HGTV gives some ideas and inspiration for painting your ombre wall.

Creating the Ombre Effect with the Paint:

Use a roller to paint the entire wall with the lightest of the shades you have selected. Paint the bottom quarter of the wall with the darkest shade, and mix the medium and dark shade together to create the color for the section of the wall immediately above that. Paint the final section using just the middle shade. Blend the colors together using a dry paintbrush or sponge until the lines seamlessly blend together.

You don’t have to be a gifted artist to paint the perfect wall! – it just takes the right tools and some time and effort.

Try this Glitter Wall tutorial in your home for another cool effect!

The typical theme that you often read about in home interiors and themes are comprised of either combinations of colors or full-color monotone design. You may have seen a lot of beautiful themes but wait until you see these creative half painted designs for your home. This is a unique and attractive way to rejuvenate the looks of your home.

How about painting just half of your walls? Sure!

All images via

The idea of a stylish half painted designs for your home is simple – to have separate the wall, piece of furniture and paint it half way. This will give emphasis on the area that you intend to highlight in your home. For instance, the illustrations show that darker colors are used at the bottom or lower areas, this creates a great emphasis on the things you have on the floor like the furniture, appliances and other items.

[ad#co-1]

Here are some of its features:

Unique and stylish

One of the things that you should consider when it comes to home designs is the exclusivity of style. This is to make sure that you are not just doing a copycat of what others already have. It’s like having your own style and design for your home.

Simple yet elegant

Simplicity is beauty – and it will show in a lot of ways with this idea. It is simply awesome because you just have to decide on half of its color and beautiful because it reflects the areas of your home that are worth exhibiting.

Love these ombre colored and half painted chairs!

Universal

This design doesn’t only include the walls and furniture but can be implemented in your home decor or even your utensils. It is a great challenge on the part of the homeowner to match the items you have at home for this design. But this can be done with a painting them halfway.

With all these features of stylish half painted design at home, you can never run out of ideas to enhance your home interior. Just look around your home and see how you can work it out!

Guest Blogger #606, Entry #1425, July 30, 2012

Accent walls bring visual interest to any room; but take your accent wall one step further by painting a pattern instead of a solid color. Patterns may seem like hard work to paint, but all it takes is a little preparation and precise measurements on your part.

Before you paint patterns, use these helpful tips

Image via

[ad#co-1]

What you’ll need:

Painter’s tape, a ladder, a ruler, and a level.

Choose your pattern.

Your choices are essentially limitless. You’re only limited by your imagination and your confidence in your measuring skills. The easiest patterns for the average homeowner to execute are vertical stripes, bold blocks, or diamonds.

Clean the wall.

With a large, damp sponge, wipe down the wall. Let it dry completely before you do anything else.

Paint a base.

Your base coat will be the color of one of your stripes or some of your blocks and diamonds.

Measure.

Using a piece of wood, measure the increments for your design. Vertical stripes should be between 5 inches and 12 inches wide for a visually pleasing effect. Anything narrower would create a woozy feeling, and anything wider would defeat the purpose of creating a striped pattern altogether.

Painting pattern ideas

Image via

Mark the wall.

Hold your piece of wood against the wall, checking the alignment with a level, and mark the spots on the wall in conjunction with the measurements on your wood. Using the piece of already-marked lumber will save you time and the aggravation of having to measure repeatedly.

Keep marking.

Take a long level or a long straight edge and mark the rest of your pattern. Mark with care, though, since pencil marks can be seen through your paint.

Tape out your pattern.

Remember you’re taping the outline of your pattern and painting inside the tape. To ensure your pattern looks polished, burnish the tape with a credit card to seal the edges so that paint doesn’t seem underneath the tape.

Paint.

Wait for the first coat to dry completely before applying a second.

Remove the tape.

Pull the tape in a direction away from the fresh tape to achieve a smooth finish.

Paint patterns can make a bold statement in your home. Don’t overdo it though, since a room completely covered in vertical stripes will not make a bold statement, but will instead overwhelm the room. Not up to executing perfect vertical stripes? Leave painting to the experts at CertaPro Painters of Rockford, located at 101 N. Main Street, Suite 4, Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Contact CertaPro today at 800-462-3782
