Here’s how to plant your own herb topiary:

Materials Needed

• Fresh herbs (thyme, sages, oregano, etc.)
• Soil
• Pails, terra cotta pots or any plant containers
• Compost
• Nail
• Hammer

Procedure

1. Prepare your soil. Expose the soil directly to the sun for at least six hours. This will ensure that your herbs will have a good soil to support their growth.
2. Make good pot drainage. Make several holes at the bottom of your plant containers. Use the nail and hammer to do this procedure. The number of holes depends on the size of your plant containers. Of course, the larger the container, the more holes should be done.
3. Fill the soil into the plant container. Mix it up with a handful of compost. This is a vital step in the whole process. The mixture of soil and compost will increase the possibility of success in planting.
4. Carefully plant the herbs. It is best to position the tallest herbs first down to the smallest.
5. Sprinkle a decent amount of water to make the soil wet and intact.

Bare in mind that the planting doesn’t end after the whole procedure. It’s just the beginning. You have to make sure that proper care and maintenance is performed every day.
