Crafting is a great way to make wonderful things, to be creative and go after their hobby. But it also can get quite messy. All these bits and thingies you need to make just one piece of craft often can get all over the place. And sometimes, searching for a tool or an item needed to make these wonderful things can get so frustrating that you soon lose the creative urge and just leave it for another time. Sounds familiar? Here are some for your craft closet organization so this doesn’t happen again.

Craft Closet Organization: Easy Tips for your Craft Room

Having an organized craft closet helps with inspiration

[ad#co-1]

Organize your Craft Closet

Create an inspiring, personal setting

The most important thing is to make a craft closet that will let your creative fuels flow. Think about using colors that brighten your day. It doesn’t need to involve painting the walls, picking items with the color you like is sufficient enough. Also, think about how you like to work and how your items should be arranged in the space. Things you would need only once or twice a year can be placed on higher places, while everyday used items should be easy to reach.

Use labeled containers

Boxes, bins and all kinds of containers are great for storing things, while the overall space looks neat. Label everything so you can find whatever you are searching for quickly. Baskets are especially cute for a more rustic look. To give your containers a more personal and unique look, try to reuse containers by beautify them by using scraps of fabric, scrapbook papers or paint. For this you can use any plastic containers, tins, cereal boxes or other suitable items. Make it a habbit to put everything back after you use it. That way the place will not get messy.

Labeling containers can do much for keeping things organized

Image via: The Container Store

Pick containers that are practical

There are a lot of items that can help you for your craft closet organization. Ice cube trays are great for holding small items, and they are cheap, too. Also, drawer units are ideal for storing things you use often. Try to store things that are alike, together, so searching time will be at a minimum.

Use the right container for every item

Image via: Iheartorganizing

Use every space available

Closet space is not only on shelves or in drawers. Look to the walls to attach dowel rods to hold ribbons and wrapping papers. Hooks are great for hanging tools or small bins to hold markers and scissors. Also use the back of the doors. Shoe organizers are great for organization. Also wire racks or small peg boards can be of use. Even hanging stuff from the top of the closet can give you some valuable storing space.

Every inch matters when organizing the craft closet

Image via: BHG

Craft closet organization is something everyone can do and it doesn’t cost much. The sure thing is that it is worth investing in, so nothing can block your creative spree. Do you have any craft closet organization ideas to share?

When it comes to winter organization in your closet this is the toughest season for most of us. Winter clothes, boots, and accessories are heavier and often take up a lot of space. If you are one of those having a limited closet space, these winter specific organization tips will help you straighten out your closet.

Winter Organization: Getting your Wardrobe Closet Functional

Organize your winter closet

Image via: Pinterest

[ad#co-1]

Tuck away your non-winter clothes

Sounds quite obvious? But trust me, putting away those shorts, linen trousers, sundresses and other summer only items will make a huge difference. Whether you store them separately in bins or simply tuck them in higher shelves, getting them out of sight will help you focus on your winter wardrobe.

Assess your clothes

Change of season is a good time to determine what you are keeping and what must go. If some of your items haven’t not been used since last year or simply don’t work for your anymore, this is a good time to donate them. Especially if you are planning to buy new winter clothes and accessories, getting rid of few older pieces will help you create more space.

Arrange items by category

Every item should have its place

Image via: Pinterest

Keep sweaters with sweaters, shirts with shirts, pants with pants and so on. This is a perfect strategy, especially for winter accessories that are easy to lose such as scarves, gloves, and caps. Using clear boxes or bags is also a good option to store various cold weather accessories as you can see exactly what’s inside.

Perfect the folding technique

Carefully folded clothes can save a lot of space

Image via: Pinterest

With more sweaters and shawls comes more folding, so make sure you are doing it properly and not just throwing them away on the shelf. This will ensure less wrinkles and minimize bulk.

Even though organizing a closet is generally the same task at any time of the year, each season has its own little challenges. For winters, we just got you covered!

With most of the country experiencing colder weather, it can mean long days and weekends spent indoors. But the good news is that it gives everyone time to get caught up on that long put off list of household chores. In particular, finally taking a look at that overstuffed wardrobe. Luckily, these easy closet cleanup tips will help you get it done in a snap. Closet organization shouldn’t be difficult and if it becomes overwhelming, stretch out the decluttering over a period of days.

Simple Closet Organization Tips for your Home

Organize your closets this season

Image Via: LA CLoset Design

Try Everything On:

While this may seem like an unnecessarily gargantuan task, doing so can make decisions clear. As you try items on, remember to be honest. Does your sweater have a few small holes that you’ve been meaning to mend for ages? If you wear that top, are you constantly going to be tugging at it to have it fit the right way? Clothes that don’t make you feel confident aren’t worth your time or your valuable closet space.

Donate unwanted clothing

Image Via: Real Simple

Use the Three-Pile Method:

Use the three-pile method to make dispersing unwanted clothing easier. Create a keep pile, donate pile, and throwaway pile in distinct places throughout your bedroom. Then, when you finish trying items on, put them in the appropriate it place. Once you finish corral the items into separate trash bags, take unusable items to the curb, and find a charity or thrift store in need of the rest.

Design your closet for beauty and functionality

Image Via: Deluscious Cookies

Keep Track of Item Usage:

As you put the clothing that you’re keeping back into your closet, take the opportunity to make your next closet cleanout even simpler. Put a system in place to keep track of items that don’t get worn. You’d be surprised at how many must-have wardrobe pieces end up languishing in the back of the closet. It can be as easy as turning your hangers backwards. Then, after you wash a piece of clothing, reverse the hanger. By the time you do your next closet purge, anything still on a backwards hanger can be given away.

Try these easy closet cleanup tips will help make your next clean out a little less overwhelming. Go for it! Who knows, you may even find a few hidden gems that you’d forgotten about. Let us know these Simple Closet Organization Tips for your Home helped you.

Tips for Decluttering your Home after the Holidays

Don’t procrastinate

We know that you are exhausted and stressed after all the holiday cheer, but the reality is the longer you take to get things sorted, the more likely it is that the situation will get worse. And especially if you still have some time off from work, take advantage and start taking out the decorations and creating places for all the new items you get throughout the holidays.

Don’t put off getting organized! Start now.

Image via: 79 Ideas

Unused items

Did you get a sweater or dress last Christmas that you still have not been able to wear? Chances are you will never wear it. The same goes for everything else you have not used or opened since you got it. Wrap them and give them to someone who might use them. Organize kids clothes, shoes, and belongings to ensure kids get a routine that fits them this new year.

Ensure your home gets organized with functional furniture

Image via: BHG

Get one, Toss two

Take it as a thumb rule, when you plan to keep one thing, get rid of two items you no longer use. For instance, for every new winter clothing you add to your wardrobe, remove two older ones.

Get organized in intervals

Organize drawers to find items quicker and easily

Image via: Good Housekeeping

Rather than tackling the whole house together, take up one thing at a time. For instance, gather all your holiday decorations at one place; group them together and then sort them. Similarly, while you wait for the coffer to brew, utilize the time to sort through mails and holiday greetings.

When de-cluttering your house post holidays, work quickly and don’t deliberate over each item. Make decisions and move on! Do you have any tips for decluttering your home that have worked for you? We’d love to hear them.

Happy DIY Saturday! It’s time to get ready for the holidays and hat better way then to get organized? Today’s Saturday will help you declutter and also watch a video to make a Thanksgiving or Holiday Thankful Tree!

In over the 300 days of the year we accumulate so many things that we just seem to forget about. Eventually those forgotten items that we once needed become cluttered mess around the house. So time to de-clutter and clear out the unwanted things and get ready for the holidays of the season. Get your yellow gloves and sponges and let’s get to work.

Declutter Your Home for the Holidays

Get organized this holiday season

Image via: Pinterest

Make a Holiday Giving Tree – Video

Link to Video: Make a Holiday Giving Tree

Box or Bag it Up

Garbage bags and grocery boxes for the entire family for discarding the unused, unneeded or unwanted things that you all have within your home. Have each box labeled the boxes or bags to know which room it came from that way when you place them in the basement, attic or hide way closet you will know where they go when the holidays are over. Make sure to use the boxes for managing the paperwork or anything that is fragile that could be damaged if tossed. Try to set a New Year’s Resolution to organize, give away or toss out each one of the bagged or boxed items.

Clean Up the Kitchen

One of the main areas in the home that are consistently used during the holidays is the kitchen. That will be another area for you to clean and clear out. Start by wiping down the countertops and oven then line the bottom with fresh aluminum foil. Clean out the refrigerator to make room for those new holiday meals you want to store. Of course, wash and put away the dishes and take out the holiday dish décor that you plan on using.

Clean the Kitchen

Image via: Blog. Blinds

Clean Up Around the Bathrooms

The next on the list that everyone will use daily is the bathroom so we really want to make sure that that area is taken care of for the holidays. Start off with the bathrooms that the guests will be occupying. Clean off the vanity countertop from any of your personal belongings, that way the guests can put their toiletries on it. Leave fresh towels and wash cloths for them and empty out all of the waste baskets.

De-Clutter your bathrooms

Image via: Realtaltonic

Get the Floors in Order

Clean Floors

Image via: Kmart

With all of the traffic that goes on top of the floors this would be a great time for cleaning them. Vacuum the carpet on the main level and upstairs level, then vacuum the main level again right before the guests arrive. Sprinkle some potpourri powder on the floor for the second vacuuming to give the room or area a fresh aroma.

We all collect things over a period of time, but those things do not have to take over our home especially when we need the space to help comfort other’s needs. De-clutter is a perfect way to start off your holidays and keep you and your guests happy. So take a look at the guidelines above and see how they work for you.

Entry #2910, October 17, 2013

Last weekend I sat down to sort out my ever increasing grocery bills when I realized that I was buying way more than what was being consumed in my household. This is when I shook up and dragged myself to achieving good pantry organization. I was amazed at the clutter I had collected. I had twos and in some cases threes of stuff that I did not even use.

Pantry ideas to get organized

Image via: Houzz

The whole incident made me realize the importance of maintaining a clutter free pantry. Here are simple steps to help you get the pantry in order:

1. Pantry organization – Start with a clean slate

Set aside a day in your calendar for organizing the pantry. Pull out everything from the shelves and place them together in one place. Give your shelves a good clean with soapy water and air them out for some time while you sort. Replace the old shelf liners with new ones.

A well – organized pantry can help you save money

Image via: Pinterest

2. Sorting and prepping

Start by sorting out any expired food items and place them in a large garbage bag to avoid mixing them up again. Next group your food products according to their categories. So place all the cereals together, spices together and so on. Once again sort out anything that can be donated and bag these separately.

If you use glass canisters or plastic jars, label them clearly.

Kitchen pantry ideas

Image via: Houzz

[ad#co-1]

3. Space planning your pantry

The secret to a well laid out and functional pantry is proper space planning. Once you have categorized the food items in your pantry, think of items that you use every day, items that you use occasionally and items that are very rarely used.

Place the heaviest and the bulkiest items that are difficult to lift in the bottom – most shelf. This includes bulk purchases that you make from Costco.

Clearly label everything clearly

Image via: Pinterest

Next place the most frequently used food products in the middle shelves. You can further segregate these according to their use, for example, keep the baking supplies together and club the specialty foods like organic or gluten-free together. Also, keep a separate tray of soon to expire food stuff on the middle shelves so you remember to use these quickly. These should be at eye level and easily accessible.

Finally place the food products that you rarely use on the top shelves. You can also place food stuff that you would rather stay away from like a bag of potato chips or ice cream topping on the top.

Once your pantry organization has been achieved with the food items you already have, make a list of what you need buy in order to restock. A well-organized pantry will help you save hundreds of dollars per year in grocery bills.

Is your home ready for the fall season? If you’re not quite sure where to start, we have some simple ways to organize your fall home. Start by organizing everything that you have at home and make it ready for autumn. This can be a challenging task but as soon as you will see the result, it will be a worthwhile experience. From closets and shelves to your mudroom. Use these helpful tips to get your fall home organized and easier to function in.

Organize your closets so you can find what you need

Image via: Pinterest

Organizing your home isn’t always a strenuous and exhausting task. There are simple ways to organize your home without breaking your back. It’s just a matter of knowing how to easily do it without compromising the result. Here are some simple ideas to organize your fall home:

[ad#co-1]

Install a fall accessory storage

Aside from organizing your fall accessories, you are also able to display or showcase your fall accessories in a form of decorative items. You can do this by simply installing double ceiling hooks underneath your shelves. Consider this idea as a priority this fall – to save a lot of space and make your interior look with autumn-ready with accessories hanging beautifully under the shelves.

Organize your closet for this fall

Image via: Houzz

Control your clutter

Organizing doesn’t mean you don’t have any clutter anymore. Hence, you have to control or minimize clutter in your home interior. To do this, you can have lockers that will cater items not needed this Fall. Lockers are designed to accommodate different items at home without getting much of your space. Items hidden in lockers are easy to get to and protected.

Mudroom storage ideas

Image via: HGTV Remodels

Have a mudroom organizer

Provide a separate space for every member in the family to accommodate sports equipment, shoes, umbrellas, bags and other gears. This will definitely isolate the dirt and dust that these equipment and gears can bring into your home. You can also include your pet accessories in this area.

These are simple ideas that you can implement to organize your home this Fall season. It’s easy and will not take much of your time and effort yet the result is stunning!

You have fewer things to clean and organize your living room which reduces your stress and increases your time and energy for your passions and hobbies. If you want to get rid of clutter but are wondering where to begin, the living room is as good a place to start as any. Here’s how to go about it:

Ocean inspired living

Make a List

The first step towards getting rid of clutter is writing down the specific areas you need to declutter. Start with the easiest and end with the hardest. You can make the list as difficult or as easy as you want based upon the specific areas in your living room that make up the list.

Implement the Four-Box Method

This famous technique gained popularity when people started embracing minimalist living. The idea is to get four boxes and label them as keep, donate/sell, recycle, and trash. Go over each item in your living room and place it in one of the four boxes. Consider each item individually and put a sticker on the ones that are too large to fit in the boxes. Turn on all the lights as you work so that you can see well and put on your favorite music to get you in the mood.

Use the four box method to get organized in your home

Image via: Houzz

Set Aside 15 Minutes Each Day for Decluttering

If you’ve got an overwhelming job in store or don’t think you have the motivation or time to declutter your living room, get a timer and set it for 15 minutes each day. It may seem like a short duration but there’s a lot you can do within that timespan. Try this for one week and you’ll be amazed at how much you’ll accomplish.

Set aside time for decluttering

Image via: Annice Sinclair

Use Your Imagination

When you want to get rid of objects that seem difficult to remove, use your imagination. Ask yourself questions like “How much would I pay for this if I was buying it now?” This will help you to remove unneeded clutter.

The phase “Clutter takes on a life of its own” is a common one. Don’t let clutter take on a life of its own in your living room. Take drastic measures and give it a life far away from yours.

The end of a season is almost like the beginning of a new year. Organizing your closet according to the season is a great way to save space and minimize clutter. Here are three easy steps to help you conquer the overwhelming giant called closet organization for fall:

Kids organized closet idea

Image via: Harry Braswell

[ad#co-1]

1. Preparation:

Organizing the closet needs time, energy and patience, dedicate one full day to the task. You may end up completing it earlier, but an organizing job dropped midway will be frustrating and confusing to pick up from where you left. Choose one closet at a time and move to the next only once you are done with the first. Start by emptying your closet entirely.

Closet ideas for your fall home

Image via: Pinterest

Pull out everything there is and clean the closet inside out. Pile the contents according to their categories – swim suits, shorts, t-shirts, hats etc. Fetch bins for your summer clothing and line them with absorbent tissue paper. Clear out space in your attic, basement or under your bed for the summer bins.

Corral like items together for space efficiency

Image via: artwork.closettailors

2. Organization:

Rummage through every pile that you have created and further divide those into labels marked as keep, donate and dispose. The three piles should be clearly labeled to avoid confusion later. Wash, iron and fold the clothes that you are keeping and then store them in bins. Wipe your summer shoes and store them in individual draw-string cloth bags. Take your organization a step further by making a list of the contents in each bin, keep this list on top before closing the lid. This will make it easier for you to re-organize your wardrobe for summer. Box the clothes that you would like to donate so you can drop them off at your local charity later. Anything stained, torn and worn out should go into the trash.

Linen closet organization idea

Image via: San Francisco Organized Interiors

3. Re-stock:

Once your closet is well-aired and the summer clothes are out of sight, it is time to bring out your winter wardrobe. Once again sort them into Jackets, coats, sweaters, gloves, ties, shoes etc. Arrange these in your closet by type so all your jackets are with the jackets and pants with the pants. Fold your sweaters and stack them on shelves. Pull out a tie organizer or install hooks and hang your ties and scarves individually to avoid them from crumpling up in the closet. Everything in your closet should be easily accessible, remember that anything out of sight will be forgotten. Make a list of things you need and want for the impending winter and head out for some shopping!

Use these 3 easy tips to discover hidden space in your closets you didn’t know existed! This fall get organized with closets you can find your items in easily, and effortlessly.

Organizing your closet is a must, but can often be a challenge! It’s not only for cleaning purpose but for several reasons. Organized closets can free up space in your closet, prolong its life and make everything in your closet accessible. These are a few good reasons to organize your closets.

The task of organizing closets isn’t simple. It requires patience and dedication to declutter your closets. But it doesn’t mean it’s so hard and backbreaking. You just have to know the proper procedure and techniques to do it. It will still require a little effort on your part but bearable.

Closet organization ideas

[ad#co-1]

To help you out, here are helpful tips on how to organize your cluttered closets:

Plan ahead your closet organization

More often than not, planning is overlooked in the process. You immediately jump into the cleaning process and pulling out the items in your closet without mapping out what to do. In organizing your closet, it’s very helpful to have an outline or rough draft on where you want your closet items to go after cleaning. This way, you can group every item while removing them in your closet.

Make use of the overhead space

There are items in your closet that are rarely used. These seasonal items should be placed in the overhead space. This is to give room for items that are commonly used. Items such as moving blankets, party costumes and seasonal appliances like the humidifier are just among those you need to place on top. Your uniforms, medical kits and other frequently used items should be within your reach.

How are your closets organized?

Image via: San Francisco Organized Interiors

Look to closet organizers that work better for your lifestyle

Organizers will definitely help you in this task. The name itself will tell you how it works. For instance, a 24-pocket shoe organizer can be suspended on the side of your closet. Also, this can be utilized as a holder for your brush, mails, spray bottles and other items that you can insert in its pocket.

Don’t make it difficult for you to organize your closet. It’s just a matter of implementing the appropriate steps in the process.
