If your winter decor in your home is feeling and looking dark and dreary, you need some decorative tips to warm it up! When you want to warm up a room, you don’t always have to turn up the heat or bring in an electric heater. Sometimes the way you decorate a room can make it warmer. There are some simple things that you can do in just about any room, that when complete, should help to make your room feel a little bit warmer. If you can do these effectively, you may even save some money on your heating bill.

How Winter Decor Can Make A Room Warmer

Winter Decor Ideas: Change the Wall Paint Color

While painting your room a different color may not impact the temperature much, it can sometimes make you feel warmer nonetheless. By choosing a warmer paint color, you can make a room cozier, and your mind will think that it is warmer in their than it really is. Again, this will not keep the heat in your room any better, but it could play a little trick on your mind.

Look to your Window Treatments and Window Coverings

A lot of heat can escape through your windows, even when they are closed, so you want to make sure they are covered properly. Choose window treatments that keep heat in, but also allow sunlight to heat up a room. If you have blinds or curtains, keep them open when the sun is out to allot the heat in, and close them at night to keep the room warmer. Curtains are also another place you can choose a warm color, to make the room feel more cozy.

Winter Decor: Consider Choosing a Different Flooring

If you are walking around with nothing on your feet, you’ll be able to tell the difference rather quickly between a floor that is tiled, and one that is carpeted. A floor covered in carpet will be much warmer than those that are tiled or hardwood, and can make you feel a little warmer. Of course, carpet does not work in every room – like a bathroom – but it will work in the ones you probably spend the most time in – like your living room. If you really want to stick with tiles, you can look into getting heated floors for some extra warmth.

Consider a different type of flooring for warmth

Image via: Stagetecture

Adding a Fireplace or Wood Stove can Help

This last option is more expensive and difficult to do, but if you can add a source of heat to your room, not only will it get warmer, but it can look great too. A fireplace can make a room look more elegant and cozy at the same time, and a heating stove can have the same effect. Installing a small stove in any room will instantly give it more heat, and the roaring flame will make you want to stay nice and cozy under a blanket all day.

Consider Having your Heater or Furnace Serviced

If you have tried the above tricks, and your room still feels cold, you may have to settle for turning up the heat. Before you go blasting your heat system though, it is a good idea to have regular maintenance performed on it by a heating and air conditioning company. This way you can ensure that it is functioning properly, and you are getting the most for your money.

Typically, during the winter season it can seem more stoic and unlively however that doesn’t have to be so. The kitchen is one of the main areas that everyone visits daily. This area can be not a place that everyone visits but also a place that bring life and color to the home. How about using your kitchen as a way to invite vibrancy and color to your interiors? Just take a look below at the tips on how to colorize your winter decor.

Winter Decor: Spice Up your Kitchen Colors

Colorful Backsplash with colored Cabinets

Image via: Lushome

[ad#co-1]

Let the Walls do the Talking

One extremely influential and dynamic area to add color to your kitchen is by utilizing the walls. You can go with the ever popular and cost effective painting the walls. Go as bold as you would like with a vibrant red or as subtle as soft tints of green, just be aware of the color palette you choose because some colors can be overwhelming or induce certain emotions within the space. Or you can decide to use colorful backsplash for hints of color instead of coloring the entire space.

Dull Color on wall with vibrant Backsplash

Image via: Southern Living

Pops of Color

Again, say you just want hints of color not so much an entire area of color then select certain parts of the kitchen. Add color to the cabinetry, countertops, seat cushions or even kitchen appliances. You can opt for one main color or mix and match or even go with a color scheme to help with the winter decor of your kitchen. Try add a vibrant dynamic color then balancing it with a neutral. Check some home magazine, they might even help with getting colorful designs for the hints f colors within your space.

Pops of color with the appliances

Image via: Get Twinspired

Creating Focal Points

So you don’t want a whole entire colored kitchen or spots of color around then how about just one main area with color? Try having an accent wall with tiled backsplash or a draped cloth on the wall, or with artwork or even paint an illusion with paint the counter tops and a run of cabinets to give the illusion of a free standing hutch. That way you can still have the color and not have your eyes bounce around the space.

Accent Wall with Matching Accents

Image via: Houzz

Fight off the winter blues by spicing up your winter decor with a splash of color in your winter decor. there are a plethora of options. Opt to paint the entire kitchen, or just hints of color with the accents within the space or try just a focal point with the walls. Well whatever you choose just make it bring the life back into your home. Also, stagetecture readers do you have any ways you bring color into your kitchen?

Winter gets really cold at this time of the year but that shouldn’t be a reason to have drab and gloomy interiors. Home Decor, can bring in that spurt of cheer that the outsides lack, with the clever use of winter elements. Common winter elements include, winter foliage, wooden elements, soft velvety furnishings, winter specific home accent pieces, warm yellow lights, candles etc. You can, in fact, generate a winter specific decor that replenishes your body and soul with warmth and glee, by simply integrating these winter elements in your home decor. Let me exemplify the above.

Home Decor: Decorating With Winter Elements

Soft Pink Blossoms

[ad#co-1]

Bony Wooden Branches

Winter, like any other season comes with its unique characteristics. At this time of the year and the time soon to follow, one would surely notice bare wooden branches giving way to winter blossoms. A backdrop donned in white with a forefront of wooden furniture and lean, bony, yet bright winter foliage is sure to set the mood for a winter decor with cheer.

Bony Branches Giving Way To Soft Blossoms

Bold Winter Colors

The outsides at this time of the year are garbed in whites and grays. You can bring the colors of the outdoors inside, and then just simply use deep, bold colors in accent pieces. For instance, a grey and white window seating area can be spruced up with deep violet and vine colored cushions, flowers and patterns. Wooden flooring or deep umber carpets and rugs can also bring in the requisite warmth, maintaining the integrity of winter themed elements in your home decor.

Bold Winter Colors Without The Bang

Saying It With Soft Upholstery And Rugged Wood

Soft velvety blankets, plush furry cushions, fleecy swede carpets can generate so much warmth. The effects double when used against rugged wooden furniture. Basically, the above mentioned elements, which by the way are hardcore winter, can give way to a very cozy retreat. And if you have walls to complement the furnishings, there is nothing more that one can ask for!

A Cozy Retreat

A Corner For Winter Keepsakes

Winter keepsakes and souvenirs like ice skates, candles, reindeer horns, jute fabrics, birch logs and winter berries can be very ingeniously used to create a cozy corner. The use of both light and dark colored woods, the ruggedness of jute, the coldness of metal, the vividness of deep red berries and the warmth of candles and lights can give rise to a very intriguing wintery home decor.

A Corner For Keepsakes

Drenched In Warmth

Sometimes its just warmth, snug, comfort and homeliness that is required to balance the winter chill outside. Be extravagant and use shams and shawls, wood and stone and lots and lots of yellow light. This would ascertain that you do not miss the sun when it doesn’t show up on some days!

Nothing Like Winter Warmth

Upholstery and furnishings are the most easy and dynamic elements that one can mould as per taste, choice and season. These being non fixed elements of a house are very easy to work with and without a doubt give rise to very intriguing home decor arrangements. And as I said previously too, do not let the gloom outside reflect in your interiors… So revamp your furnishings and upholstery to beat the winter melancholy this season.

January can be a slightly tricky month for many of us in term of updating the home interiors. Summer’s green grass and holiday season’s colorful fashions are clearly over but at this point, the hope of bright flowers of cheerful spring are visible at the end of a long winter tunnel. To fight the dreariness of the cold months, the best way is to bring more vibrant colors into your home. Awaken your gloomy interiors with these creative winter decor ideas by adding these cheerful additions.

Winter Decor Ideas: Cheering up your Home with Color

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-62241" alt="Reenact nature's spirit with floral printed pillows.
Jazz up your interiors with Rugs

A few colorful rugs can jazz up your home and fill it with energy and vigor. If you have carpet or hardwood on the floor, update it with one or two rugs. Try electrifying orange, cheery lemon yellow or lush green and balance the décor with a few accent pieces of the same color around the room. However, do not add too many colors in a single room, as it will make the place look like a circus.

Create an accent wall with beautiful wallpaper.

Image via: Dig

A Cheerful Bathroom

Throw out the lackluster bath mats and place a lush rug runner instead. You can also use exotic tribal runners that will add a special touch of surprising splendor in the bathroom. A good rug runner will provide so much more bang for the money and will get better looking with age. The place can also be accented by installing a small mirror with an ornate, colorful frame. Besides, change the shower curtain, decorate a bare wall with wall decals, and install a new towel rack.

Bring in Nature’s Spirit

Winter is the time when the nature goes into hibernation. So, cheer up your home by reenacting nature’s liveliness in the interior. Create an accent wall in your bedroom by decorating it with floral wall art. Place good-quality artificial floral arrangements in some key places like the living room, kitchen, foyer, etc. Floral-printed pillows, colorful curtains, and one or two landscape paintings on the walls will bring the outdoor spirit inside the home.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-62243" alt="Update bedroom decor to make it special.
Elevate Your Bedroom Decor

Your bed is the place where you spend a lot of time, especially during the winter months. So, updating your bedroom will give you the feeling that you are somewhere special. A canopy over the bed, engaging details on the ceiling, and a chic piece of artwork or a favorite poster above the headboard can elevate the décor of the room. A silk or embroidered bed runner will add a little touch of luxury in your bed.

Hope, these winter decor ideas will help you changing your home interior from something dreary to inviting and cheerful.

Today we continue Stagetecture’s feature ‘Olioboard Inspiration‘. Before you were inspired by – ‘Celebrating 7 Inspiring Kwanzaa Principles ‘ from Tameka Brice. Today, I feature Madeline Jones who is a member of the the Facebook Olioboard Fan Room group and she gives us inspiring ways to bring your winter home out of a New Year’s funk. See how she helps make your home cozy and welcoming this winter.

‘Bringing Winter Ideas to your New Year’s Home ’ – Madeline Jones

After the holidays, the weather outside may be frightful but your home decor can be delightful. Decorating can be easily done on a budget. Switch out vases and bowls for those in metallics like silver, copper and gold. A vase can be spray painted with metallic colors for a few dollars.

Use nature to bring winter inspiration

Fill an empty vase with some pine tree branches for an inexpensive touch of winter. Rather than spending money to redecorate an entire room, pillows can be replaced to warmer tones like rich, dark blues or plaids. Take photos of winter scenery around town and enlarge them to prop up on the mantle. Very nice, inexpensive frames can be purchased and spray painted as well. Winter related items at thrift shops like old sleighs can be used for centerpieces and filled with pine branches and pine cones or some favorite potpourri. Glass apothecary jars can be placed on the mantle or console table and filled with artificial lights, fake snow with mini trees, candles or wine corks. Even though the holidays are over, decor can still be warm, festive and inviting.

Winter Ideas for your interiors

Walk around your outdoor home and bring in inspiring natural elements or visit your local craft store for branches, pine cones, straw, evergreen and rocks for a beautiful tablescape in your dining room or foyer table. Winter ideas shouldn’t be hard to incorporate into your everyday life. The winter should be a time to enjoy the coziness of your interiors. Use these ideas to create a winter home you will love to stay home in!
