Tailgating Food: Chocolate Popcorn Recipe

This season, why not go extra miles from your munchies by taking advantage of one inexpensive ingredient. Yes, I am talking about popcorn, but with a sweet chocolaty twist. Let’s have a look at this chocolate popcorn recipe that will have your tailgating guests lined up around the stadium.

Total Time: 1 hour 45 minutes

Yields: 2 quarts of popped corn

Ingredients

2 quarts popped popcorn

¼ cup cocoa powder

½ cup butter

1 teaspoon vanilla essence

¾ cup white sugar

¼ cup corn syrup

1 cup peanuts

Procedure

1. Preheat oven to 120 degrees C.

2. Grease 10*15 inch baking pan.

3. In a large metal bowl, put popcorn and peanuts and set aside. In a saucepan, stir together sugar, cocoa powder, corn syrup, and butter over medium to high heat until it comes to boil. Boil for 1-2 minutes. Add vanilla and pour over the popcorn. Mix until the popcorn is well coated. Spread the popcorn into the greased pan.

4. Bake in pre-heated oven for 25-30 minutes. Stir several times.

5. Remove from the oven, and bring it to room temperature. Store in an air tight container.

This addictive popcorn is just sweet enough to balance all other tailgating foods like meat, burgers, chips, and dips that everyone else brings to the party. Just make sure to coat the popcorn well and be ready to score some big points with your friends and family!
