Hit the Road
Road trips are fun, interesting, and inexpensive experiences that you and your family can share any time you have a couple of free days. Back in the simpler times, before turnpikes and multi-lane freeways, people used to drive on the back roads, visit towns and locals, and really see the country in a way that we no longer can. Pick an interesting destination and find a new way to get there. A good time is sure to be had by all.
Get Back to Nature
When was the last time you went on a camping trip? If you’re like the majority of us it’s been a long time, maybe you’ve never even tried it. When you need to break from the monotony of concrete and asphalt, there’s nothing better than heading off to the camp grounds. You don’t need an RV or any fancy equipment. Pack up the bare necessities, learn how to build a fire, and have fun with the family. You can even get low rates on cabin rental if sleeping under the stars doesn’t sound appealing.
Catch a Wave
Everyone can enjoy a trip down to the sea. Even if you’re too far from the coast to make the trip, there’s sure to be a nice lakeside spot somewhere around your town. Catch some sun, take a dip in the water, or you can even go fishing at many places. Heading out on a canoe or kayak can bring even more good times for you and yours.

Be a Spectator
Look for local arenas and theaters, and see if there are any upcoming events that you and your family would enjoy. It could be a sports game, a concert, a circus performance, anything you can think of. The Mohegan Sun Arena is great for those in the New England area, and your town surely has its own venues with lots of interesting spectacles going on. Look for hot deals on tickets online and take the family out for a fun eventful weekend.
Sample the Local Fairs
Fairs and festivals are going on all the time, and they’re often right under your nose. Keep your finger on the pulse of your town’s event schedule to stay abreast of news on interesting gatherings. Music festivals and craft fairs can be great fun for the family, and most are free or very inexpensive to enter. Find the best deals on hotel accommodations for the multiple day events so you can really see everything.
