By making their homes picture-perfect. Here are a few tips to help you brighten up your dull winter home.

Living Room Design Ideas – Let In More Light

Natural light is very important. It is not only essential to our wellbeing, it also makes us happier. Since days are short and nights are long in winter, arrange your home to let in as much light as possible. Keep the windows clean and free of obstruction. If you have heavy curtains, get rid of them and put lighter ones instead. Opt for sheer window treatments and fabrics as opposed to heavy materials. If you are afraid that light window covers will take away your privacy, use wooden shutters at night. They retain heat and protect you against the cold. Additionally, remove ornaments from your window sills to create beautiful open spaces.

Use Candles

Candles add warmth and create a cozy feeling. They cast a flattering glow and make everything look better. Since there’s no daylight in winter, fire becomes the main source of natural light. Place ornamental candles in tea light holders around your winter home to perk up the space. At night, light them up to create a delightful atmosphere.

Add Soft Cozy Furnishings

Create a warm and relaxing haven by adding cushions and throws to your sofas. Choose neutral colors for a calm look and bright colors for a vibrant look. Cozy comes in many forms: it can be rustic, romantic, or modern. The secret is to choose the perfect furnishings for your home.

These simple tips will help you to forget about the dreary weather outside and enjoy your beautiful winter home. You will create a lovely environment that will keep you happy all winter long. What Home Tips for Fighting the Winter Blues  do you have?

[…] I absolutely hate winter. Last night, it got down to 4 degrees F, and I live in the South! I mean, how are people supposed to live like this? I hate the cold, I hate the gloom, I hate how dead everything looks. But, the one nice thing about the cold is that it makes you grateful for a roof over your head and a heater. In fact, the easiest way to getting rid of the winter blahs is by making your home as cozy as possible. Having a warm, comfortable home will beat back winter depression, and will also be a nice draw to buyers if you are trying to sell.
