Scare with Scarecrow and Ghostly Balloons
A scarecrow mascot is kind-of common but still effective Halloween decor item. Place one near the gate of the yard to greet the guests! Create the body with lumber, one as the main post, one for shoulders, and four for arms. Secure the joints with wood glue. Use a dry or plastic gourd as the head, a small plastic ball as the nose, and googly eyes to make the eyes. Use an old overcoat and a scarf to cover up any grotesque handiwork. The scarecrow can be accompanied by some flying ghosts, which you can make with balloons and gauze fabric. Just draw face on the balloons with a marker and cover them with pieces of white fabric. Now, let them fly in your yard!
Frighten with White!
Sometimes, using black and dark colors for your Halloween decor becomes too mainstream. So, think of something new instead. If you want, you can create a spooky feel with white and lighter shades too! Place bunches of white flowers in white or cream-colored apple baskets. Keep those baskets in your yard and surround them with white gourds and pumpkins. To make it more attractive during nighttime, use LED votives in between and around these baskets and hang a few lanterns from a nearby tree.

Spook the Trees!
If your yard has trees, do not waste the chance to decorate them in a scary way. Trees without any leaves will be even better to make ghostly decorations. Adorn the trees with pumpkin jack-o’ lanterns, a number of faux black crows, and LED candle lanterns. Use Styrofoam pumpkins or orange tissue paper balls with facial features glued on them as jack-o’-lanterns. Be sure not to over decorate!
Decorate the Fences and Bushes
Buy a number of Styrofoam pumpkins and glue cutouts of skeletons on them. Place them sporadically throughout the yard and around the fences. Place a few faux black cats among them. Look spooky, right? If you have bushes in the yard, make them scary with some spooky eyes. Cut shapes of eyes from cardboard tubes and place plastic glow stick inside them. Tuck the eyes in bushes and scare the hell out of the passersby!
