Healthy living has always been a struggle in my family. Having a family history of diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and cancer has always been a major concern of mine. Through regular exercise, eating on a regimen that fits my blood type, body type, and characteristics and being open to new healthy living experiences has made me and my family healthier in general! Our First Night Starts Off with Meeting the CEO and an “Iron Chef’ Healthy Food Event

It was an exciting event because I got to meet other bloggers who were from all types of backgrounds and blog genres: healthy living, recipe creation, family and home lifestyle like Stagetecture.

The first night we all met to meet Jim Emme, CEO of NOW Foods and the recipe and development team to have an “Iron Chef” event! It was so much fun to see how their natural food products are perfect if you need:

• Their Living NOW products are certified gluten free, certified kosher, sugar-free ( as well as a better tasting stevia), pasta – tastes like wheat ( but is gluten free)- made without corn- better for those with wheat and corn intolerances.

Suzy Sing, Recipe and Development Chef made us a delicious dinner that was PURE comfort food but made with all NOW Foods healthy ingredients.

Healthy Living Starts with a Healthy Mind & Body

After a wonderful night, we all headed to bed because Friday was going to be a whirlwind of events.. like waking up to a 6:45 am yoga/pilates/cardio workout on the terrace overlooking this gorgeous golf course at Eaglewood Resort.

Our morning yoga and pilates was great! I was so sore for the next two days I could tell I used muscles I had never used in my regular workouts. Between the gorgeous sky, the cool, crisp air, and our Yoga Instructor – Vanessa Mackay’s pumping music, it was the perfect start to the day.

We Learned How to Make our Own NOW Beauty Recipes!

After our morning yoga, we learned how to make our own roll-on essential oil blends as well as hand foaming soap! These are great recipes if you like using essential oils or if you like giving beauty products as gifts. My personal favorite beauty product is the shea butter lotion. It smells like heaven and every time I put it on it lights up my mood. Healthy living isn’t only about eating and exercising, it’s also about making yourself feel good, right?

Here are a few healthy living notes I learned about the NOW Beauty Products:

• NOW Doesn’t test on animals, they only test on people. Their products are gluten free and they make sure all of their products are pure.
• They have products for kids, teens, and adults including kids mouthwash, toothpaste and
• Did you know your skin is the largest organ? Your skin can be exposed to over 200 chemicals on skin per day. WOW!

Next Stop: Touring the NOW Foods GMP Facility:

After the beauty products seminar, it was time to head back to our rooms to pack up and head to the NOW Foods plant tour. This was going to be good! Take a look at just some of the wellness supplements and sports nutrition supplements products they create at their plant.

We walked through the Bloomingdale plant to see how they make their supplements, powders, foods, beauty products and more. They actually make 1,400 high-quality, natural and affordable products. Isn’t that insanely awesome?

The picture on the bottom right of the image above are solid marble tables that ensure all of their weighing and testing are exact. My analytical/architectural nerd side found this fascinating.

NOW Foods offers Healthy Living Supplements, Beauty Products, and Natural Food Ingredients

My husband and I use to always get NOW Foods products at our local health food store, but never realized the wide array of products they truly have. Whether you are trying to find supplements to help you lose weight, gain muscle, replace vitamin deficiencies or help your overall mental well-being, there are products to assist with your goals.

This gorgeous vignette was at Fine Furniture

Instead of me rehashing every day I thought sharing the highlights of my favorite brands and design trends would make for a much better recap.

Geometric Designs with Glimmer

Geometrics in patterns isn’t new to the world of design, but seeing it in inspiring ways was a trend at High Point Market. Subtle and bold instances were everywhere. As you can see in the bar tray above in the first Fine Furniture photo, the Greek key feet of the tray counterbalances the kaleidoscope inspired lamp to the left.

Bernhardt Furniture had beautiful accents of the Greek key symbols throughout their Soho Luxe collection. If you look carefully throughout their furniture, each piece is elegantly detailed with patterns, symbols and shimmering brass or mirrors.

Color Meets Prints in Fabrics, Wallpapers, & Textiles

Another design trend I loved seeing was furniture brands combining furniture fabrics, curtain textiles, and wallpaper to create a cohesive look. Thibaut Design did this beautifully. The nations oldest continuing wallpaper company showed us fresh pops of color from floor to furniture to walls.

Classic Styles are Retold in New Ways

It was a pleasure to meet Jamie Drake again in person at High Point. I had first met Jamie at the Sub Zero Wolf New Generation Media Event in 2013. He has paired with Theodore Alexander Furniture to bring his impeccable style and unique blend of soft jewel tones to his line. I was able to catch this shot of him as he was being photographed by the “REAL” photographers I saw a trend of bringing the Regency Style of vintage Hollywood glam adorned with modern fabrics to be one of the best highlights of Jamie’s line.

Wrapping up High Point Market

It’s hard to capture the event in blog posts because you don’t get to see, touch, hear and feel the hustle and bustle of High Point Market. I have however left you with the best parts of the market, and spared you the sore feet. Soon you will start seeing the highlights in home decor magazines, furniture stores, and beyond. #BlogTourAmbiente – Best Global Design Trends at Ambiente

David Wiechmann, Editor in Chief of the design publication, ‘PM Designer’s Special’ said it best,

” The question where interior design ends will commonly have to be answered in a more more differential way…. We will cover not just tables built also the tableware on them. Not only the pure room at such, but also the atmospheric accessories in it. “

With Ambiente being the largest consumer goods fair in the worldwide it was hard to narrow down just a few trends. Although a few did stand out from the United States, Denmark, Lebanon, and the Philippines embodied design trends that I see every corner of the world embracing in the upcoming months.

Here are my favorite picks of global trends at Ambiente:

United States – ‘Optimistic & Uplifting’

This year the United States was the partner country for Ambiente and NYC based Designer

Scott Henderson wowed visitors at his booth that:

“…expressed the USA at a glance in a way that everyone would perceive as optimistic and uplifting”

It was a pleasure to see Scott’s refreshing take on everyday household items that are multifunctional with a modern design aesthetic that is whimsical yet clean-lined.

United States – Nambe

I fell in love with Nambe – a tableware company that is headquartered out of my western roots of Sante Fe, New Mexico with their organic driven housewares line. The company creates crystal glassware, barware and is now moving into tabletop pieces that look beautiful being cooked in or on your table.

Scandinavian Design

My good friend Susan Serra armed me with a mission before going to Ambiente “take pictures of any great Scandi products you see.” I had my eyes peeled for great Scandinavian design and Normann Copenhagen was my favorite. All of the household items reminded me of children’s building blocks with their warm and smooth wood materials and minimal details. The lighting in the bottom left hand photo is from LIND DNA out of Denmark and I loved the industrial inspired filament lighting.

Lebanese Metal Designs 

Kafka Goes Pink was even more beautiful in person. The copper and bronze fixtures are hand cut and deliver lighting patterns on the wall that is awe-inspiring.

“Pure contemporary lines, a subtle and exquisite oriental baroque, Kafka Goes Pink is borne of the love of a Lebanese artist to his country and its eras of know-how. Union and fusion of an ancestral handicraft and a visionary designer, Kafka Goes Pink invites you to luxury, sensuality and authenticity.”

Organic Living – Philippines

O Living was the very first exhibit I stopped at when visiting Ambient and I think I spent thirty minutes in awe of the organic materials and beautiful textures of their outdoor and organic living products.

“For its unique interior and design products, which are made by hand in the Philippines, it selects only the highest-quality natural materials, including bone china, wood, mother-of-pearl, metal and natural stone.The great feeling that all O living products emanate originates not solely from the harmonious design of the products but also from O living’s business philosophy, which is based on honesty and durability.”

Eva Solo – Danish – Organic Living

Eva Solo had a host of Danish household products that are practical yet strongly designed with the end user in mind.

“Eva Solo creates exclusive, Danish-designed furnishing accessories and kitchenware characterised by aesthetic appeal, functionality and high quality. Tools which are a pleasure to look at, use and own.”

From outdoor grills to indoor water bottles, tea kettles and tea leaves holders – I could have spent all day in their booth!

This bird feeder (above) is made from hand blown glass was one of my favs.

To wrap up all the trends in just one post would take days! Although these were my absolute favorite global trends from the Ambiente fair!

We started the evening after the main Ambiente Fair closed and the individual brands hosted their own private functions in their booths. Villeroy & Boch greeted us with fruity cocktails and a chance to walk around to see their latest dinnerware, crystal and collections.

For Me (White Dinnerware):

Villeroy & Boch has developed the modern country collection For Me to cater for all those who enjoy relaxed but stylish meals at home, no matter whether they are eating alone, as a couple or with a large party. The multitalented tableware is distinguished by its timeless design with clear lines, gentle transitions and pleasing shapes.

Floreana (Floral Patterns):

The décor draws inspiration from the floral patterns of historical copperplates and from the famous Mettlacher Plat2ten, which so influenced the history and aesthetics of Villeroy & Boch’s tableware and tiles in the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th centuries. Well-known décors like Brombeere, Rubus and Phönix have been drawn upon, reinterpreted and placed in a contemporary context. Applied using watercolour techniques in fresh blue, green and red, the resulting décor has a contemporary modern aura.

Artesano Provençal Lavender

The new décor Artesano Provençal Lavender features scattered sprigs of delicate lavender in strong shades of violet and dark red buds. The motifs of the décor are set off against a warm beige that resembles light-coloured wood and surrounded by a violet border around the edge of the plate.
