Preparations
• Pre-heat the oven at 375°. Roll out the pie dough on a surface that is lightly floured.
• Make two 1/8-inch thick circles to a diameter a bit bigger than that of an 11-inch plate. Take the pie plate and press one pastry circle into it. Cover the other circle with plastic after placing it on a waxed paper.
• Chill all the pastry for almost 30 minutes until they become solid.
• Take a bowl and make a mixture of flour, apple, spices, lemon peel and juice, and sugar. Mix them well.
• Put the mixture into a pie pan. Fleck it with butter and wrap it up with the remaining pastry circle. On the top of it, make a few steam vents. Crimp the edges if you want to make it sealed.
• Brush the pie with the battered egg and sprinkle sugar on it.
• Bake it for almost 1 hour until the juices are bubbling and the crust is brown.
• Allow it to cool down on a wire rack.
Serve the delicious apple pie!
Some people may find the combination of Granny Smith apples and lemon juice way too tart for their tongue. In that case, a sweeter version of this pie can be made by excluding the lemon peel and juice and adding more sugar and butter. You can also use frozen pie crust.
