Organization is big this time of year and in many ways organization can serve beauty and function. Books are beautiful in every way. Reading a good book can be a relaxing and mind-opening experience. If you have a big book collection though, storing them can be a problem. Most bookworms like to display them in bookcases and libraries. Also, it is a good way to make books available to your kids so they learn to read and love them from an early age. Here are a few ideas on how to arrange your books in a creative way.

Use space-saving bookcases

If you have a small home, making the most of the available space is crucial. Great ways to display books, having them on hand and at the same time save space, are furniture pieces with integrated bookcases. Beds, tables, armchairs and couches with shelves for keeping your books are just a few ideas.

Also, think about vertical storage as in one book over another and not side by side. This way you can save space, too.Another space saver is to store books facing-forward, even behind doors. This idea is great for children’s rooms. To make the shelves you can even re-purpose wooden spice racks.

Display them in a unique bookcase

Having a completely unexpected bookcase will turn your book collection to a centerpiece in your home. You can choose from a great variety of book case shapes, like asymmetric and modern ones, tree shaped or classic ones.

Use items that you have no longer use for, like crates that you can paint, an old ladder or even an empty guitar case. This way you are not only environment-friendly, but you save yourself money as well.

Make use of the background

To revamp your old bookcase, it is always a good idea to paint or apply wallpaper to the back of it. That can give the bookcase depth or pop, which will add to the overall character of your home. Painting a tree and placing shelves so they look like standing on the painted branches can make a wonderful creative book display for any room, but especially so in a kid’s room.
