DIY Sat. 171 – Thanksgiving DIY Favors For Your Guests

Entry #3042, November 22, 2013

Happy DIY Saturday! Thanksgiving Day is approaching and everything is planned in detail, from a great menu, beautiful tableware and up to an amazing table setting. The one thing you could add to make this Day even more memorable is to offer your guests a little, yet meaningful gift, which you or your family can prepare with care and love. It doesn’t need to be something fancy or extravagant. Only a small token of your appreciation of your guests and something for them to take home, so they can prolong a little more this wonderful Thanksgiving celebration. Some of these favors could even serve as placement card holders or for decoration until your guests are ready to take them home.

Mini Pumpkin Candy Basket

These are so cute and simple to make. Use some beautiful mini pumpkins and bendable branches or some vine for making the handle. Empty the inside of the pumpkins, pierce small holes to push the branch through and add some nice candies for your guests. They are so adorable that they are easily used as decoration until the feast is over!

Rosemary pots

A clever way to upcycle your soup cans and displaying your recycling spirit. Just wrap some clean soup cans in burlap or upholstery tape, and tie it with some twine. Next, place small rosemary plants in the cans and ready are these eco-friendly favors! The plants can be used either to flavor your guest’s food over the coming days, or to be planted in another pot or their garden. Using different sizes of cans, they could even be a centerpiece for your table or you could use them as placement card holders!

Felt Cutout Coasters

So nice looking and easily personalized! They need a little bit of preparation, but your guests are going to enjoy them for a long time. To make, use some rectangle shaped felt in colors that will match the rest of your home’s decoration. Cut out on one end of the felt a little thumb notch and a small window, in any shape you like. Then, fold the rectangle so you have a square and stich or glue the sides together. Next, print out some words or images, or even your guest’s names on some matching card stock, and cut it to fit into the coasters, while your design will show in the window you made. Slide the printed cardstock into the coaster and you have a wonderful favor for your guests, which can be used perfectly as placement cards.
