24 bay leaves
27 dried apple slices
24 cinnamon sticks

18-22 gauge floral wire
How to Dry the Fruit Slices
This fall DIY project is easy to make but you have to prepare the dried fruit pieces before starting the actual making process.
- Cut the fruits into ¼-inch slices and place them on a paper towels. Cover the slices with more paper towels.
- Use four layers of paper towels to cover the fruit slices and put them in a line on a glass pie pan. Place the pan inside an oven and bake for three minutes at 50% power.
- Some microwave ovens do not have a carousel. In that case, turn the dish a quarter-turn. After turning over the fruit slices, arrange on the dry areas of the paper towels. Bake them again for 2 minutes at 50% of power.
- Now, take the slices out and put them on dry paper towels. Place them in a dry place and air dry for a day or two. Change the towels for a few times if you want to speed up the process.
- In case of drying apple slices, follow the same instructions but dip them in lemon juice at first. It will prevent them from discoloring.
Directions
- Take any length of wire that you deem suitable and make a small loop at one end. Take 3 strands of raffia and run them through the loop and tie a knot in the middle.
- Crack each of the cinnamon sticks in the middle and make a small hole at the center of each of them with a large nail. The holes should just be big enough to pass the wire through.
- To start weaving the garland, pass the wire through the middle of the apple slices. After that, add 3 cinnamon sticks, 3 bay leaves, 3 orange slices, and then another 3 cinnamon sticks. Start the pattern again with three more apple slices. Keep making the garland until you reach your desired length.
- After finishing stringing, coil the wire into a loop at the end and pass another three strands of raffia through it. In the middle of the lengths, tie the raffia strands in a knot.
- You can hang this garland horizontally or vertically.
