When it comes to decorating your outdoor home, many people look to canopies for inspiration. There are a number of different variants, and they aren’t simply restricted to door and window canopies. Homeowners are forever looking to enhance the space they have surrounding their home, and a garden canopy is a great way to do this.

Permanent or temporary canopy?
There are a number of garden canopies you can choose from, and one big decision you need to make before exploring your options any further is whether you want a permanent fixture, or something that can be used and put away sporadically. Both have advantages and disadvantages, and the best choice for you depends totally on what you wish to use the canopy for.
Even if you love your neighbours, a bit of private time is always good, right? We’ve all been there – trying to relax in the garden when, all of a sudden, the neighbour comes to the garden fence asking if you’ve seen the latest football score, or heard the latest celebrity gossip. The installation of a garden canopy can give you that air of privacy that you desire when you simply don’t want disturbing. A retractable structure can allow the best of both worlds, meaning that you can decide when you can be disturbed and partake in idle chit chat, and when you get some quality time to yourself. Bliss!
One way that we all love to make the most of a sunny day is to eat outside. It just seems to taste better, doesn’t it? However, the weather can be extremely unpredictable and in some areas, just venturing outside with a meal can be a risk. Once again, a canopy is a great way to make sure that you’re at ease, and not constantly checking the sky to see if the clouds are getting greyer. A remote controlled electric canopy is a good safety option to make sure you have all bases covered.
Healthy outdoor living
There are also health benefits to providing yourself with an option of cover. As much as everyone loves a bit of sun, the saying that you can have “too much of a good thing” is most definitely true. For health reasons, it’s always good to take a bit of a break from a mammoth sunbathing session. Also, if you look into it a little deeper, choosing a light coloured canopy can actually help reflect the harmful UV rays away from the people sat under it. This also helps protect any furniture that may be exposed to excessive light from patio or French doors. This way, the furniture is unlikely to soak up any harmful rays and the colour is less likely to fade.
Whether used for the purposes above, or simply as an outdoor smoking shelter or workspace, canopies are a great way to add a touch of character to any garden without having to put the effort in like you would with landscaping.
