The fall season can act as the best excuse to cozy up every room in your home – especially your Master Bedroom where you will be spending many long fall and winter nights. Here are some great ways to cozy up your bedroom and block the oncoming chill of those cool nights:

Blankets galore:
What better time to buy all those comfy duvets and cashmere throws that beckon to you from the shelves of the home goods stores? The texture of a beautiful cashmere or soft alpaca wool blanket just begs to be touched. By tossing a few of these around your bedroom, on the edge of your bed or on the back of a chair, you can begin to create a welcoming fall retreat. From bottom to the top, get your bed ready for cooler nights. Sheets, waterproof mattress protectors and blankets are a must. Of course, a thick duvet or comforter is a must as well; this will not only make your bed warm and welcoming, but it will keep you much more comfortable without cranking up the heat. While you are searching for the perfect comforter, think about splurging on some high-quality flannel sheets for your bed as well – you may not see them when the bed is made, but you will know that they are there waiting for you when you crawl under the covers at night.
Add a fireplace:
Small electric fireplaces are fantastic for almost every room in your home. Not many people think about adding them to a bedroom, but why not? Who doesn’t want a custom-looking fireplace in their bedroom without the pricey install? Those cool nights will certainly be much warmer with the radiant heat of a fireplace! Just remember, electric heat can be more expensive to run, so use it in moderation and ENJOY.

Rugs:
There is nothing worse than hopping out of bed and putting your feet down on a chilly floor. By adding a few small area rugs or one large rug to your bedroom, you can easily solve this problem. Rugs can add such warmth and visual appeal to a room – they just say welcome! If your room is already carpeted, then think about breaking some rules by adding another smaller area rug on top of your existing carpet. This layering effect can add a very comfortable feeling to a room.
So, enjoy decorating your room into the perfect fall retreat – and don’t forget the ambiance of candles for that finishing touch!
