Guest Blogger: Preparing Your Bedroom For The Upcoming Spring

Guest Blogger #877, Entry #2144, February 27, 2013

Now that spring is right around the corner, it’s time to shed the heavy bed linen and blankets and transform your bedroom into an inviting retreat from your busy day. During the winter months we find refuge in our layers of comforters, and sheets, and forget about making the bedroom a refreshing place to unwind. Whether you want to bring inviting colors that remind you of spring renewal or you are looking to add a new dimension to your bedroom, here are some ideas to help.

Freshen your bedroom furniture:

While you may think that replacing your bedroom linen is the only way to bring spring into your bedroom, freshening your bedroom furniture is another way. Buying new furniture may be a great option if your outdated bedroom dressers and bed need to be replaced. If you are trying to save money, consider distressing, painting, or adding a faux finish to your furniture. Many DIY ideas for repurposing your furniture can be found on Stagetecture and interior blogs and magazines. White bedroom furniture can bring a fresh tone to your dark bedroom and may spark other spring colors into your bedding and decor.

Add color to your dark bedroom:

Spring colors such as nature inspired ones are ideal. Pale pinks, light blues, butter yellow and grass greens to name a few can give your bedroom a new life to the spring season. Adding a fresh coat of paint to an accent wall behind your bed is a great place to start. Take down your dark, heavy window treatments and replace with lighter weight cottons and linen fabrics. Allow more natural light into your bedroom to infuse your winter bedroom with light and see how it naturally comes alive.

Brightening your winter bedroom is easier than you thought. Whether you opt to replace your old furniture with lighter colored finishes or you decide to add your own custom finish, spring is closer than you think.  Try adding fresh flowers, colors, spring decor and fresh sheets to really infuse spring into your bedroom interiors. Try cleaning your windows too to bring in natural daylight that will provide instant awakening to your senses, and your bedroom!
