Guest Blogger: The Essence of Matching Closets to your Bedroom Design

Guest Blogger #374, Entry #966, February 20, 2012

In the early days of the closet industry, many clients were interested in something functional and cost effective.  The upgrades often were specialty organizational accessories and options such as jewelry drawers, drawer dividers and Lucite doors.  Occasionally there was that adventurous client who wanted and demanded more.  This “more” included a stunning design that was developed after consulting with the Architect or Interior Designer to discuss the materials, the space and the look.   The design of the closet had to seamlessly fit with the bath, bedroom, dressing room or Bedroom Suite.  This process is no longer the occasional exception but has become the normal in many more instances.

More and more the Master Bedroom has become a sanctuary, a retreat and a personal space to relax and recharge before the facing kids’ dinner and a thousand other daily pressures. That means that closets are larger, more beautiful and often serve more than just a functional container to hold one’s clothing.  Closets are often an integral part of the design of the Master Bedroom.  As the client moves from one area to another in their Bedroom Suite, they want all the areas to feel integrated into the larger space.  This not only makes the space feel larger, more open and more luxurious but provides a great sense of harmony for the entire area.

When you call for an appointment with your personal Closet Designer, analyze the design and look of your bedroom and bath area.  Are there favorite elements in your space that you would like incorporated into your closet?  Is it the color, the wood, the faces, the moulding or even the color and style of the hardware?   All of these design features can be part of your closet design to create the space that will provide you with your own sense of peace, serenity and harmony each morning and each night as you use the space to begin or end your day.  Take the plunge and create the space that speaks to you and your sense of style.
