Entry #1329, June 22, 2012

Your front porch is an extension of your interior home. More often than not, it does not have the luxury of space like any other room. But as long as there is a porch where you can chat with family members or friends, there is more than enough space for fun.

If you think nothing can be done for a small porch – you are wrong! Make use of the space you have and create a welcoming retreat for you and your guests. Never think that size is a hindrance for a beautiful porch. You can maximize the space.

Here are a few ideas that are easy and economical to maximize the space you have:

Use space-saving furniture

You can customize a design that fits exactly to where you want it to be placed. If you want to buy, make sure to measure accurately the free space you have like for the chairs, coffee table and other furniture. With the right measurement, it trims down the furniture selection and makes it easy for you to choose the right furniture. Take note that rectangular table consumes more space than rounded ones.

Keep a lot of color to a minimum

This will provide a wider effect on your porch. In choosing your color, avoid dark of mixture of different colors as these will surely make your porch appear like cluttered and crowded. Choose light colors like white, pastel yellow, beige and green.

Get accessories that will enhance the looks of your porch

It is recommended to have your decorations outside the porch so as not to get space from your limited space. Be resourceful. Use your own paintings and make your own frame to hang on your porch walls.
