How to Know if Your Home Needs Garage Door Repair

Keep in mind, a garage door that is not operating properly can be a serious safety hazard, especially if you have small children or pets. Keeping the information here in mind will help you know when it is time to call on professional service and help for your garage door.

Some of the most common issues and why you need to call for professional repair are highlighted here:

1. Garage door opener remote won’t work:

One of the easiest parts of the garage door to break is the sensor for the remote control. This is an issue that will only be seen with automatic garage doors. If you have a broken auto garage door opener, you should check with a garage door service to see if the parts that are needed can be replaced. If the answer is no, then you should find a different repair plan.

2. You start hearing squeaking in your overhead garage door:

Another indication that you may have broken garage doors is if you notice a squeaking sound. The parts that is present, such as the bearings and dry rollers, have to be lubricated. This is one of the easiest issues to fix, since you can apply the necessary fluid on your own. If you are unsure how to do this, a professional can help.

There are quite a few garage doors service and repairs that are easily performed. However, this is one of those issues that may force you to replace the entire door, or all of the door parts. An example of this would be a door that begins to close and then reopens immediately prior to closing all the way. This could be an obstruction problem. You should call a garage door repair company to learn more about this type of repair.

The garage door is a convenience feature that many people have become reliant on. In fact, they simply expect it to work each time they are ready to leave or come home. This is some great information, and I appreciate your point that your garage door not closing properly needs repair. When I got home from running errands today, the garage door would almost close, but then it would open again. I made sure there wasn’t anything triggering the safety sensors, and I’m not sure what the problem is, so I’ll definitely look into having a professional come and take a look. Thanks for the great post!

Too many homeowners are ignoring this fact, or maybe they overlook it, so they think it doesn’t need any repairs. Some garage door repairs should not always be a “D-I-Y” project as well. It is important to find garage door experts, or you can buy a new one if you think it will cost you more for a repair.
