Look to your Window Treatments and Window Coverings

Choose window treatments that keep heat in, but also allow sunlight to heat up a room. If you have blinds or curtains, keep them open when the sun is out to allot the heat in, and close them at night to keep the room warmer. Curtains are also another place you can choose a warm color, to make the room feel more cozy.

If you are walking around with nothing on your feet, you’ll be able to tell the difference rather quickly between a floor that is tiled, and one that is carpeted. A floor covered in carpet will be much warmer than those that are tiled or hardwood, and can make you feel a little warmer. Of course, carpet does not work in every room – like a bathroom – but it will work in the ones you probably spend the most time in – like your living room. If you really want to stick with tiles, you can look into getting heated floors for some extra warmth.

This last option is more expensive and difficult to do, but if you can add a source of heat to your room, not only will it get warmer, but it can look great too. A fireplace can make a room look more elegant and cozy at the same time, and a heating stove can have the same effect. Installing a small stove in any room will instantly give it more heat, and the roaring flame will make you want to stay nice and cozy under a blanket all day.

If you have tried the above tricks, and your room still feels cold, you may have to settle for turning up the heat.
