The 4^th of July is here and what better way to celebrate than with savory bbq food, friends and family? I love bringing out patriotic red, white and blue colors and sprinkling in summer colors and dinnerware to set the scene. I’m excited to of paired with Villeroy & Boch to feature their new BBQ Passion and Pizza Passion lines. If you remember in the past I’ve highlighted the gorgeous dinnerware, crystal ware and entertaining ideas on Stagetecture with Villeroy & Boch. Of course you and I will never forget the unforgettable night in Frankfurt, Germany I spent with BlogTourAmbiente and the Villeroy & Boch family!

My 4^th Of July BBQ Entertaining Ideas with Villeroy & Boch

Today I want to show you how to bring patriotic colors together with their lovely white dinnerware to set a memorable 4^th of July BBQ table this holiday season.

Set your 4^th of July table with party food and patriotic colors

While the traditional red, white and blue are a necessity I always like to bring in summer colors such as pops of yellow and green to give the table dimension. I started off with red burlap fabric and denim fabric runners for added texture under the table settings. I think it’s fun to mix and match patterns! So I used nautical blue and white striped napkins and red linen napkins to bring a casual and formal mix to the table.

Villeroy & Boch’s Nek Mini Vase in Deep Cherry and the Numa Vase in Midnight Sky held my happy sunflowers perfectly. When I have a lot of dishes on the table I like to keep the centerpiece simple.

Choosing the right dinnerware to fit your bbq party food recipes

Villeroy & Boch’s new BBQ Passion line includes beautiful steak plates in two sizes to fit your entertaining needs. I enjoyed how they have a sauce indentation in the dish that enables you to put your condiments or favorite sauces right there on the plate without interfering in your presentation. I also used their Artesano dip bowls and trays for barbecue sauce and horse radish – perfect for the shish kebabs! The beautiful wood Artesano Salad Servers complement any salad you’d like to serve your guest in the Artesano Original Salad Bowl.

Decorating in style with colorful accessories for your holiday table

One of the elements that is often forgotten when decorating a festive table is to bring color through glasses. Villeroy & Boch’s Boston colored Highball Beer Tumblers in blue and red paired nicely with the decor and who doesn’t love to sip out of a festive red and white or blue and white striped straw? Cooling down on the 4th of July couldn’t be sweeter than with these glasses to complement the white Artesano Original Pizza plate in the center of the table.

Instead of pizza I piled our corn on the cob and shish kebab skewers in the center, but a cheesy flatbread, or big loaf of French bread would have worked just as easily!

 25 Nautical Decor Ideas for your Creative Home

1. Nautical Decor Color Scheme Ideas

There are a couple of different ways you can go when it comes to selecting a nautical color scheme. Although you might think that adopting a watery palette of green and blue is enough, nautical themes tend to be rather specific when it comes to colors. For example, you could elect to approach your project as if it were a beach home, in which case a white-on-white aesthetic would be the order of the day. Or you might lean more towards a yachting feel with yellow, white, navy blue, and hints of red in the color scheme. You might also go with an old school sailing vessel sort of feel complete with dark browns and maroons with gold accents. In short, the color scheme depends largely on the type of nautical theme you’re going for.

2. Beach Decor Walls and Flooring Ideas

When it comes to all things oceanic, you might not initially think that wood flooring is the way to go. But nautical styles nearly always emphasize wood, often in both flooring and walls, to mimic the look of ships or beach shanties. Both the beach cottage look and the yacht style will call for light-colored planks on the floor while the former will also require white-washed walls and exposed beams on the ceiling. And if you want to make a room look like the inside of a pirate’s vessel, surrounding yourself on all sides with dark wood paneling is a must.

3. Coastal Inspired Linens

You can have some fun here depending on your theme. While the east coast beach house looks generally calls for a continuation of the whites, a naval or yachting theme could mean lots of blues (especially navy) or reds in the linen department. And if you’re going for a pirate motif, you’ll want all kinds of rich brocade, plush velvet, and stiff leather.

4. Nautical Furniture

Wood is definitely the order of the day for most nautical styles when it comes to adding furnishings. While beach styles tend to opt for light, faded woods (think the color of driftwood), you’ll want to opt for polished oak and mahogany numbers if you’re going for some sort of ship-like theme (like the items found at the coral cove, for example). But beach-house lovers will also want plush items upholstered in textiles similar to sailcloth while seating and tables for boat styles should be squat and sturdy (and upholstered in leather, in some cases).

5. Beach Theme Decor Accessories

A nautical theme provides for a bevy of decorative accessories, from items related to marine life (seashells, starfish, etc.) to instruments you might find on a ship (globes, sextants, old-school charts/maps, and so on). And of course, you can always add nautical-inspired artwork to the mix with paintings of boats or seascapes.

#BlogTourAmbiente – Best Global Design Trends at Ambiente

David Wiechmann, Editor in Chief of the design publication, ‘PM Designer’s Special’ said it best,

” The question where interior design ends will commonly have to be answered in a more more differential way…. We will cover not just tables built also the tableware on them. Not only the pure room at such, but also the atmospheric accessories in it. “

With Ambiente being the largest consumer goods fair in the worldwide it was hard to narrow down just a few trends. Although a few did stand out from the United States, Denmark, Lebanon, and the Philippines embodied design trends that I see every corner of the world embracing in the upcoming months.

Here are my favorite picks of global trends at Ambiente:

United States – ‘Optimistic & Uplifting’

This year the United States was the partner country for Ambiente and NYC based Designer

Scott Henderson wowed visitors at his booth that:

“…expressed the USA at a glance in a way that everyone would perceive as optimistic and uplifting”

It was a pleasure to see Scott’s refreshing take on everyday household items that are multifunctional with a modern design aesthetic that is whimsical yet clean-lined.

United States – Nambe

I fell in love with Nambe – a tableware company that is headquartered out of my western roots of Sante Fe, New Mexico with their organic driven housewares line. The company creates crystal glassware, barware and is now moving into tabletop pieces that look beautiful being cooked in or on your table.

Scandinavian Design

My good friend Susan Serra armed me with a mission before going to Ambiente “take pictures of any great Scandi products you see.” I had my eyes peeled for great Scandinavian design and Normann Copenhagen was my favorite. All of the household items reminded me of children’s building blocks with their warm and smooth wood materials and minimal details. The lighting in the bottom left hand photo is from LIND DNA out of Denmark and I loved the industrial inspired filament lighting.

Lebanese Metal Designs 

Kafka Goes Pink was even more beautiful in person. The copper and bronze fixtures are hand cut and deliver lighting patterns on the wall that is awe-inspiring.

Organic Living – Philippines

O Living was the very first exhibit I stopped at when visiting Ambient and I think I spent thirty minutes in awe of the organic materials and beautiful textures of their outdoor and organic living products.

“For its unique interior and design products, which are made by hand in the Philippines, it selects only the highest-quality natural materials, including bone china, wood, mother-of-pearl, metal and natural stone.The great feeling that all O living products emanate originates not solely from the harmonious design of the products but also from O living’s business philosophy, which is based on honesty and durability.”

Eva Solo – Danish – Organic Living

Eva Solo had a host of Danish household products that are practical yet strongly designed with the end user in mind.

“Eva Solo creates exclusive, Danish-designed furnishing accessories and kitchenware characterised by aesthetic appeal, functionality and high quality. Tools which are a pleasure to look at, use and own.”

From outdoor grills to indoor water bottles, tea kettles and tea leaves holders – I could have spent all day in their booth!

This bird feeder (above) is made from hand blown glass was one of my favs.

To wrap up all the trends in just one post would take days! Although these were my absolute favorite global trends from the Ambiente fair!

We started the evening after the main Ambiente Fair closed and the individual brands hosted their own private functions in their booths. Villeroy & Boch greeted us with fruity cocktails and a chance to walk around to see their latest dinnerware, crystal and collections.

For Me (White Dinnerware):

Villeroy & Boch has developed the modern country collection For Me to cater for all those who enjoy relaxed but stylish meals at home, no matter whether they are eating alone, as a couple or with a large party. The multitalented tableware is distinguished by its timeless design with clear lines, gentle transitions and pleasing shapes.

Floreana (Floral Patterns):

The décor draws inspiration from the floral patterns of historical copperplates and from the famous Mettlacher Plat2ten, which so influenced the history and aesthetics of Villeroy & Boch’s tableware and tiles in the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th centuries. Well-known décors like Brombeere, Rubus and Phönix have been drawn upon, reinterpreted and placed in a contemporary context. Applied using watercolour techniques in fresh blue, green and red, the resulting décor has a contemporary modern aura.

Artesano Provençal Lavender

The new décor Artesano Provençal Lavender features scattered sprigs of delicate lavender in strong shades of violet and dark red buds. The motifs of the décor are set off against a warm beige that resembles light-coloured wood and surrounded by a violet border around the edge of the plate.

#BlogTourAmbiente – Ambiente Show – Frankfurt, Germany

….the world’s most important consumer goods trade fair, which boasts a globally unrivaled range of products in the Dining, Giving and Living areas. This is where over 4,700 exhibitors from 89 countries showcase an international range of consumer goods. Only here will you find from 13 to 17 February all the market’s new products, inspiring ideas and the latest trends.

In 2015, the stage has been set for a wealth of ideas and suppliers from this year’s Ambiente partner country, which is also one of the fair’s top 15 exhibitor nations – The United States of America.

Jane Gianarelli grew up with a creative gene and love for design and fashion. She credits her love for design to being brought up in a home that was in a constant state of being remodeled and furnished with fine furniture. With a decision to study Interior Design or Apparel Design in college Jane opted for the latter and graduated college with Bachelors of Science in Apparel Design. Throughout her career Jane has gained a wide range of business knowledge with years of managing clothing and furniture stores.

Over the past seven years as an Interior Designer Jane has developed her unique system for her designs. Her style includes mixing classic and modern elements with strong colors and patterns to create functional and unique livable spaces. In addition to Jane’s designing her creative talents lie in original hand renderings of interiors. Offering valuable design tools for other Interior Designers like herself, Jane understands how important it is for clients to understand their design with adding a personal touch.

One of my fondest memories as a child was visiting my grandparents at the family holidays and spending an entire day before Thanksgiving cleaning crystal and shining the silverware! It was a tradition to take out the best crystal from the china closet and sit at the dining room table and clean and polish every piece that we would use for Thanksgiving Dinner!

Now that I have my own family we still take out the china for the holidays but I always thought crystal was for homes that were very traditional and formal, and that definitely is not the Gibson’s!

Last month I showed you how Villeroy & Boch brings you Everyday Elegance Crystal that you can use for any day of the week and it’s casual enough to use anytime but still looks gorgeous with your casual or formal dinnerware. Today I’m excited to bring you a crystal piece that can be used at the dining table or anywhere in your home as home decor!

Each year I try and make a new seasonal inspired mantle on our fireplace. This autumn season I thought it would be nice to use fall colors of rust, orange, copper and gold and feature pumpkins and pinecones to show off Villeroy & Boch’s – Modern Grace Compote. While I could have used it as a serving piece for fruit at the dining room table, I think it looks great on my mantle! What do you think?
