Is your holiday table ready with all of the yummy side dishes? One of the best dishes that you can make using potatoes is having it baked under an overhead grill to achieve a golden crust on top. This recipe is called scalloped potatoes. The recipe is not new, hence, scalloped potato recipes are very popular and comes in different presentations and varieties.
Scalloped potatoes have captured the taste of many people because of its superb texture and flavor that is so hard to resist. The preparations may take you much of your time but the good thing is that you can do some of the tasks ahead and have them stored in the fridge. Just make sure to cover with foil and allow your potatoes to reach at room temperature before baking. For easy and fast peeling, it is best to choose large potatoes.

Simple Holiday Scalloped Potatoes Recipe

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, plus more for baking dish
- 1 garlic clove, smashed and peeled
- 3 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, scrubbed, peeled, and thinly sliced
- 1 1/4 cups whole milk
- 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon coarse salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 2-quart shallow baking dish and rub with garlic. Layer potatoes in dish, overlapping slightly. In a small bowl, combine milk, cream, salt, and pepper. Pour cream mixture over potatoes and dot with butter; cover with foil.
- Place dish on a rimmed baking sheet and bake on top rack until potatoes are tender when pierced with a knife, about 1 hour. Uncover and bake until top is golden in spots, 30 to 40 minutes. Let rest 20 minutes before serving.
After a few minutes of resting the baked scalloped potatoes, you can now savor the sumptuous potato dish. The whole ingredients should accommodate at least 8 people.
