Choosing the Best Curtains: A Semi-sheer Window Treatment

For areas where everyone gathers, such as a living room or family room, you won’t likely need much privacy; however, depending on the total number of windows, it will likely always need some light. Allowing natural light into the space will help to brighten the room and allow a bit of privacy when lowered.

It is a good idea to select the thickness of the material based on the total light that you want in the room. A thicker fabric will allow in less light than a fabric that is ultrasheer.

Cellular Shades are Good Window Shades for Interiors

There are a number of bathrooms, especially the ones that are located on the lower floor of a home, that need a maximum level of privacy. In many cases, the best option for this will be a cellular shade, which are also called top-down/bottom-up shades. While these shades block view of the space, they still allow natural light to come in.

Thanks for these tips for choosing the right window treatments for my home. I decided to go for a thick material for the curtains in my room, but I was wondering if I should do the same for my living room windows. You made a very compelling point about how sheer curtains would be a good choice since I usually have a lot of people gather there. That would probably be best so that I can still get a little bit of privacy while allowing more natural light to come through my windows.
